Is it so hard to use "the google"?

http://www.google.com/search?client=firefo...G=Google+Search

As for what to do to prepare check out these two links

http://firefightersworkout.com/

http://www.pponline.co.uk/encyc/0096.htm

The first is Mike Stefano. He's got some excellent science based workout programs. He is also a big advocate of kettle bells which are far better for real world strength improvements than traditional weight lifting.

The second link is a great article explaining why Mike and kettle bells are so much better than weight lifting. Its about running, but the science is solid. If nothing else, it should help you decide for yourself who you want to listen to when people are giving you advice.

The vests are expensive, very expensive. Much easier to train harder than it is to make up the cash you spent on the vest. The test is a joke!

I got a vest for about $100 at Modells, but it's only 40 pounds. I am probably going to take these classes as well.

I bought my vest from www.simulaids.com

I just checked the price and it looks to be about $425 plus shipping for the same vest that CT uses for the Cpat.

$450 may sound very exepnsive but I make that working one overtime shift now, plus I sold the vest for $200.

get the vest and hit the stairmaster. Work at the same pace as the CPAT keep extending your time and you'll be fine.

Also, be sure to do a lot of cardio workouts, and light weight training with dumbbells. Do your workouts with high intensity for about 15 minutes or so if you can handle it, to simulate how much strength you will need for the actual CPAT (10:20). Also, I worked my way up to using about an extra 20 lbs of vests, so by the time I got on the stair master at the actual CPAT in Meriden and it was like nothing.
