NYS Office of Fire Prevention & Control NEW Website

5 posts in this topic

I was fwd this e-mail which I wanted to share with everyone.

Subject: New OFPC web address

I am pleased to announce that a simplified OFPC web address is now active:

http://www.dos.state.ny.us/fire

You are encouraged to share this new and simpler domain with the fire

service and public, as well as utilize it in written communications and

publications. It is expected that this easier to use (and remember)

address will result in increased traffic and use of our website.

Paul D. Martin

Acting Chief, Bureau of Fire Prevention

NYS Office of Fire Prevention & Control

99 Washington Avnue Suite 500

Albany, NY 12231

(518) 474-6746

BE SAFE!

Never noticed this, however this is a great service:

Using your NYS Drivers license you can read Firehouse magazine and the other trade magazines online.

It is a great service - however you need to be a state employee

SFIs, OFPC staff, State retirees & other State employees are eligible for New York State Library services
. You need to send in a state photo id with expiration, or a state paystub and another form of id.

I used my NY Drivers license # and it worked, I am not a state employee.

From the site:

Anyone can access these databases onsite at the State Library. Remote access is available as follows:

* "NYSL P Card" - New York State Library Borrower's Card number starts with "P"

* "NYSL R Card" - New York State Library "Resident" Borrower's Card number starts with "R"

* NOVELNY - NY State Driver License/Photo ID number

Thanks for the correction. I was able to log in that way - not the nicest application to use but a wealth of information if you dig around.
