NYPD Dispatch

I was just wondering what the process of becoming an NYPD dispatcher entails. What requirements do you need. Any experience necessary? I would love to get into NYPD dispatch. All info appreciated.... thanks

First off it's a civilian position. This requires you to live in the five boros. Look at the police department employment site. I believe they list the Communications jobs. It may be an open fileing process for that position. So I test may be given frequently. If you can't find the site. Watch the newspaper The Chief. That will list it in the back when the test comes up.

Have you ever listened to NYPD dispatchers? Experience required? I think not!!!

If you think you can handle it, go for it. FDNY pays better and has better schedules. But, you need some sort of experience.
