I was about to ask a silly question... but first I decided to hold a nickel up to the big magnet on the speaker in my guitar amp... so to answer my own question: No, a big magnet would not have worked. :P

It is great that some one had to pick them all up but it sucks for the person that has to count them to make sure the all were picked up and Why am I never in the right place at the right time. (How do I go to the bank and try to cash in S182K worth of nickles??? or jsut overload coinstar) lol
