Shelton CT FD Tanker Crash -11/23/08

CT FIRE APPARATUS CRASH WHILE RESPONDING[

Sunday, November 23, 2008

A Shelton (CT) fire tanker on its way to a residential fire alarm in a non-hydrant area crashed this afternoon.

The eight-year-old truck was traveling to an automatic alarm at about 12:45 ours when "either mechanical failure or something happened and it rolled over." according to the department spokesperson. The 2 Firefighters inside received minor injuries.

The tanker it totaled and the investigation is continuing.

Here's an article from connpost.com, the article mentions that the tanker carried 300 gallons, I would imagine that it was most likely 3000.

The tanker is a 2002 Pierce / Kenworth 1000 gpm pump / 3000 gallon elliptical tank. The area in the town where the truck was responding is a non-hydrant area of the city. Both members are okay and are home after begin transported for evaluation. Tanker 59 is stationed at White Hill Fire Company No. 5, one of four station in Shelton.
