Yonkers Apparatus Update 12/08

3 posts in this topic

With money from the 2007-2008 Capital Budget, Yonkers Fire Department has the following apparatus on order:

2 ALF pumpers due in March from the previous contract

New contract: Smeal won all 3 bids by a large margin. Pierce and ALF bid. Seagrave and Rosenbauer were at the pre-bid conference, but did not bid. So, on order from Smeal on SPARTAN chasis are 1 Smeal pumper, 1 Smeal Rescue Pumper, and 1 Smeal Rearmount with fixed waterway.

I think all of Yonkers current rearmount trucks (70,72,73,74) are all Smeal. The 1998-ish Engines that were replaced by the ALF's were mostly Smeal.

Interesting change and news for Yonkers. Both the Spartan chasis and fixed waterway are going to be firsts, I believe.

I wonder if Yonkers is looking at my vollie company's rescue pumper specs. If any Yonkers FD personnel want to come up to CT to see our engine, I can make it happen. Its on a Spartan chassis.

They are Smeal Aerials on HME Chassis
