They weren't responding TO a call, they were returning from one. Possibly enroute to get fuel, as the area where it happened is a bit outside of their response area.

At least they got the department right. At the time it happened, some sources were reporting the unit involved as being Circleville's year-old heavy rescue. Guess they didn't listen closely enough to the scanner.
