At approximately 1100hrs a firefighter, while walking roof of 3 story private dwelling, fell through a covered air shaft. The firefighter became wedged in seated position at the bottom of the shaft a few feet shy of striking the ground. The firefighter was Alert and Oriented with no loss of consciousness and all neuro intact. Due to the difficult location, position of the firefighter, and threat of injury extrication took a while but was accomplished in under 20 minutes. 15 minutes later the firefighter arrived at Lincoln Hospital in stable condition. No one rushed and everything proceeded calmly and efficiently. Nice job by everyone involved and hopefully he'll be back on the rig sooner than later.
