Boston spends 2nd most on firefighters in US

1 post in this topic

From http://www.boston.com/news/local/massachus...fighters_in_us/? and http://www.boston.com/news/local/breaking_...bus_offici.html

(Correction: Officials in Columbus, Ohio, said they miscalculated when they reported that Boston paid more for fire and emergency medical services than any other large US city. According to the revised calculation, Boston ranks second, spending $285 per resident. Read the story here.)

Boston actually paid the second-highest amount per capita, at $285 per resident. San Francisco paid the highest at $315 per resident, according to a revised report released today. Boston still has the highest number of firefighters per square mile and per resident.

New York ranked 18th

Interesting to see these figures. Just got my tax bill, fire is lumped with refuse and lighting (don't know what the reasoning is for that one) and costs 4 residents $511, EMS costs $52 for those 4 residents.
