Location: 479 S. Meadowbrook Drive Paradise Hills area of San Diego

Departments: SDPD, SDSO, US Marshals Office, multiple mutual aid Law Enforcement agencies, SDFD

Description: US Marshals and the SDPD SWAT were fired upon while performing a warrant service on a suspect wanted for ADW. After a forced entry into the apartment the suspect was taken into custody. The teams then were attempting a forced entry on an interior room when shots were fired through the door/wall, and a SDPD K9/SWAT Officer was shot in the head and a K9 was also wounded. The officer was taken to Scripps Mercy Trauma Center and the K9 was rushed to an emergency vetenary hospital. The Officer was pronounced approximately 3 a.m. PDT. A SWAT standoff ensued, and when the residence was breached a male and female were found deceased. SDPD is still investigating.
