Chief Henry Starkel, University of New Haven Police Dept.

Got this message from the Executive Director of Safety/Transportation from UNH this morning:

"It is with great sadness I write to let you know that Henry A. Starkel passed away at his home. Henry has served as the University‘s Chief of Police for 13 years. Chief Starkel will be remembered as a student advocate, an effective administrator and a true friend.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all who had the pleasure of being a friend or colleague to Henry. I will send out information on services as soon as it is available."

Apparently he was found at his home this morning after not reporting for duty. I knew the Chief through school and from working at the uniform dealership that handles their uniforms. He was an honest and hardworking guy and he will be missed at the University.
