Rye Brook teen suddenly dies, stunning family and community  

(03/30/05) RYE BROOK - A Blind Brook High School student died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at school, his family and the community are stunned by the tragedy.

Officials say 16-year-old Steven Piccolo was reading a book in the library of the school when he suddenly collapsed and died. Many across the community are in shock and saddened by the tragedy. Piccolo’s uncle Lorenzo Petrone says the teen died from breathing complications. Piccolo was taken to Greenwich Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Superintendent Ronald Valenti said many friends and faculty are heartbroken by Piccolo’s death. The school has set up a crisis team to meet with students tomorrow. Meanwhile, Piccolo’s family is awaiting autopsy results to get an explanation of his death.
