Putnam County Radio Reference Guide

Putnam County uses as four digit identifier for all aparatus

FIRST TWO DIGITS identifies the department.

11 = Brewster Fire Department

12 = Carmel Fire Department

13 = Cold Spring Fire Department

14 = Continental Village Fire Department

15 = Garrison Fire Department

16 = Kent Fire Department

17 = Lake Carmel Fire Department

18 = Mahopac Fire Department

19 = Mahopac Falls Fire Department

21 = North Highlands Fire Department

22 = Patterson Fire Department Department

23 = Putnam Lake Fire Department

24 = Putnam Valley Fire Department

31 = Carmel Ambulance Corps

32 = Garrison Ambulance Corps

33 = Philipstown Ambulance Corps

34 = Putnam Valley Ambulance Corps

35 = Medic Units

THIRD DIGIT identifies type of apparatus

1 =Chief Vehicle

2 = Engine

3 = Brush truck or mini pumper

4 = Tanker

5 = Aerial Device

6 = Rescue

7 = Ambulance

8 = Fire Police, utility, hose, etc.

9 = portable radio (some use to identify officers other than chief, i.e. captain)

*Marine Units will be identified by department number- marine-1 I.E. 18-Marine-1

FORTH DIGIT identifies unit number within department

for example 22-2-3 would be Patterson Fire (22)- Engine (2) - third engine in department (3)

County Medics / BLS will be identified as: Medic 1 - Philipstown / Garrison Unit

Medic 2 - Putnam Valley Unit / Continental Village

Medic 3 - Carmel / Kent / Mahopac / Mahopac Falls

Medic 4 –Brewster / Patterson / Lake Carmel

BLS 4 - Brewster / Patterson / Lake Carmel

THIRD DIGIT identifies type of apparatus:1 = Chief Vehicle, 2 = Pumper, 3 = Brush Truck or Mini-Pumper, 4 = Tanker, 5 = Aerial Apparatus, 6 = Rescue Vehicles, 7 = EMS Vehicles

FOURTH DIGIT is the number of the unit within the department. For example: 22-2-3 would be Patterson Fire Department (22), engine (2), third in the department (3)

I cleaned it up a bit for you, pal. Is there any mention of 8 and 9?? I was under the impression 8 is a utility type vehicle, and 9 is an officer.

Thanks JBE, I had it up and then I don't know what I did. I just went back and redid the post instead of the mess that posted. According to the Putnam County website, 8 is for miscellaneous vehicles/fire police/hose, 9 is listed as portable radio

You also have the numbers for the members of the county teams

40 = fire investigation team

50 = hazmat team

45 = fire police team

Medic 4 and BLS 4 also cover Putnam Lake.

The final list should probably have the county cars as well and the areas they cover.
