After 62 years of fighting fires, the Memphis Fire Department is likely going out of business.

If the change is approved, the nearby Warners Fire Department will take over its building, members and territory.

The Memphis department serves an area in the towns of Camillus and Van Buren. Under a joint consolidation agreement, agreed to by both departments, the Warners Fire District, the official name of the department, would become the Memphis Warners Fire District. Both towns and the Warners Fire District are having a public hearing on the consolidation 7 p.m. June 28 at the Camillus Municipal Building....

Wow, I first thought it was Memphis, TN!

Anyway, it's too bad that it might be closing it's doors.

Not closing its' doors consolidating into the larger district next door which plans to keep the station open. Still a pretty rural area. Played golf next door to the Memphis Fire Station once. Tax rate is dropping $.15 per thousand. Sounds like a no brainer.
