Scarsdale police celebrate 103 years of service

It has had members killed in the line of duty, seen all manner of crime, from murder and robberies down to assaults and drunken drivers, and committed to a training standard that is among the toughest in the state.

Celebrating their 103rd anniversary today, though, the police point with pride to a focus on serving the citizenry in a way few departments do.

“The story with us is service, service, service,” Scarsdale Police Chief John Brogan said. “Our officers take pride in the work they do.”

That pride and service will be celebrated at the department’s recently renovated, 26,200-square-foot public safety building on Fenimore Road. Those renovations delayed the centennial celebration until now.
