Port Chester - Attic Fire -- 7/29/12

Time: 00:11 hrs

Location: 530 Locust Avenue, Port Chester, NY

Frequency: (note, I did not listen to this incident live)

Units Operating:

Port Chester Fire Department, 35 FFs-

Box Assignment:

Car 2292, Car 2293;

Engines 58, 60, 61;

Ladder 31;

Rescue 40,

Engine 64 on standby.

10-75 (Working Fire) Assignment:

Engine 62;

Utility 65.

Westchester County Cause & Origin Team (Zone 2);

Port Chester Police Department;

Port Chester EMS.

Weather Conditions:

Description of Incident: Small attic fire in an OMD was put out quickly. The fire damaged the attic apartment and there was water damage to the apartments below. No injuries reported. Cause determined to be accidental from a overheated electrical cord. Numerous safety violations found, including no working smoke detectors in attic apartment.
