Town of Ulster man, 21, in critical condition after being struck by freight train

TOWN OF ULSTER, N.Y. — A 21-year-old man suffered serious injuries Saturday morning when he was struck by a freight train, according to state police.

The man — identified by troopers only as a town of Ulster resident — was found next to the CSX tracks behind the Ulster Hose Fire Company 5 station about 7:05 a.m., according to state police and the fire company’s chief, Sam Appa. Troopers said the man’s right arm and leg were severed but that he was conscious and alert and complained he was cold.

Please keep your thoughts and prayers with the victim and his family. His brother is a member of Ulster Hose.

That's terrible. I bowled with him in a league for quite a few years. Good guy. Prayers for a speedy recovery.
