Fire/EMS Apparatus and Tier 4 Emissions

2 posts in this topic

With Tier 4 Emissions compliance in full effect across the board on diesel equipment, has the EPA actually released this "Waiver" that would allow the removal/ delay of Regeneration and Derate equipment? I know all chassis cab for ambulances whether it's Powerstroke Cummins or Duramax all are now fitted with a DPF and DEF system. I'm trying to find proof or Emergency Services advocacy that proves the EPA is either on it's way to waiver the use of these emissions systems or already has and is just not common knowledge.

Forgive any ignorance... looking to further educate myself on the emissions front as far as emergency apparatus goes... specifically on the ambulance front.

Thanks! - Voltage

It does not matter if EPA gives the waiver or not. Every engine manufacturer has already publicly stated that the emergency service market is less than 1% of thier sales and they would not make a seperate engine for such a small share.
