Re: DES Construction Project (EMS/Communications)

The Department of Emergency Services (DES) has initiated multiple Capital Improvement Projects to enhance and maintain our heavily used facilities. To this end we are about to commence on a construction phase of one of these projects. The project will include upgrades for the Communications and EMS Division areas in our facility at 4 Dana Rd in Valhalla.

While we will be working with the contractor and Department of Public Works (DPW) to minimize the disruptions construction work generally brings with it (i.e. noise, debris, facility access, etc.), the fact is that this work will necessitate temporary relocation of staff. This project will include renovating part of the lower part of the building that will affect work locations presently occupied by team members at different times in the process. As a result, this may also affect our usual ability to interface with our stakeholders in our office spaces.

Starting this week, staff from the CAD area, Communications Office and EMS Division will be temporarily relocated to smaller or already occupied office spaces for the duration of the project. It is strongly recommended that during this time anyone having business with staff members in these sections make an appointment so appropriate meeting space can be pre-arranged if needed:

· Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) Operations – 914-231-1695

· EMS Division / Regional EMS Office – 914-231-1616

NOTE: Anyone visiting the building will need to check-in with the front office upon their arrival for additional instructions.

The exact timeframe for the completion of the project is still evolving, but it is a priority that it be completed in a timely manner, hopefully 6 months from the start date.

We will do our best to keep all our stakeholders notified of any major issues which would affect the accessibility of our facility. Thank you for your understanding and partnership in this initiative and may the New Year bring you peace, happiness and prosperity.
