what is the manifold wagon used for

I think it has a similar function to a satellite, however, I might be incorrect in my assumption. TBendick or JBE would have the answer you're looking for.

It responds with and is manned by E 329. It provides access to the narrow roads in the residential/beach areas of Roxbury,Rockaway Point and Breezy Point in the Rockaways. It carries 3 1/2" hose along with 2 1/2" and 1 3/4" hose.

He pretty much nailed it. It can get into places where a regular rig can't. It's a 1986 GMC with a Ward 79 body. I believe there was rumor it was to be replaced with a Hummer.

JBE,

If Im thinking right, that would mean the engine would be down the block someplace with a hydrant and would just be pumping water down the street to the actual fire scene? Why not just spec out a smaller rig?
