Posting IA's with proper topic titles

3 posts in this topic

I have noticed recently several members posting Incident Alerts with the topic titles incorrect, such as only stating the muncipality or incident type.

The topic title is part of the template. It is prescribed so that the topics in the forum are uniform and consistent, therefore making them easier to identify and read.

The topic title should consist of the municipality, followed by the incident type, followed by the date. With proper spelling and capitlization of all!

Here are a few examples of a PROPER IA topic title:

Yonkers- Working Fire 8-16-05

Somers-MVA w/ Extrication 8-16-05

Fairview- Third Alarm 8-16-05

Irvington-Water Rescue 8-16-05

ALL TOPIC TITLES SHOULD APPEAR IN THE FORMAT ABOVE!(With correct spelling!)

Please use correct topic titles as described above in all IA posts!!

Thanks!

In addition to the above rules, the following format shall be used.

If posted in a forum specific to ONE County (i.e. Incident Alert-Dutchess County forum), it IS NOT necessary too post the county in parentheses:

Proper: Poughkeepsie - 3rd Alarm w/victims - 3-7-09

Improper: Poughkeepsie (Dutchess) - 3rd Alarm w/victims - 3-7-09

However, if it is an Incident Alert in, say, the Incident Alert- Rockland & Orange County Forum, it is requested you post the title to specify which county it is in, as such:

Proper: Montgomery (Orange) HazMat Incident - 6-9-10

Or the Incident Alert-National/International Forums, we ask that you specify the state, and city/town/village:

Proper: Tuskaloosa, AL - Major Emergency Train Derailment - 7-25-09

For postings made in Incident Alert- New York City, we ask that you specify the Borough

Proper: Queens - Major Building Collapse - 7-12-05

Any IA that is deemed to be improper, have incorrect spelling, or has not been updated (i.e. a fire goes from a 2nd alarm up to a 5th alarm), the Moderators of this site reserve the right to alter any and all IAs to conform to our posting policies.

Thank you, and happy posting!

All,

The staff is delighted that a lot of new members are posting Incident Alerts and providing information to the rest of the membership. However it is very important that the above guidelines for IA titles be followed so people know what is posted and can read what interests them.

Everyone should also review the policy on what is an appropriate IA before posting.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
