New Yonkers Engine 306

3 posts in this topic

(03/24/04) YONKERS - It was a bittersweet moment for Yonkers firefighters Wednesday as they dedicated a new fire truck to Deputy Chief Chris Kiernan, who died suddenly last month. He died just one day before his 46th birthday.

Kiernan specially designed Engine 306 and it now bears his name. Family and friends joined Kiernan's fellow firefighters in remembering the 24-year veteran.

George Kielb started the job with Kiernan back in 1979. He says anyone who worked with Kiernan knew that he wanted the best for the fire department, including the best equipment.

The firefighters say every time the new fire truck goes by they will always think of Kiernan and what he meant to the fire department
