Injured Manhattan Firefighter Update

Does anyone of an update on the condition of the firefighter that fell from the rig in Manhattan awhile back?

New York City Firefighter Matthew Long of Ladder 43 was critically injured this morning after being struck by a bus at 52nd Street and 3rd Avenue in Manhattan while traveling to work by bicycle at approximately 5:50 AM.

Firefighter Long, a 12 ½- year veteran of the FDNY suffered multiple fractures (leg, arm and ribs) and serious internal injuries. He was transported to New York Weill Cornell Medical Center were he underwent emergency surgery to stabilize his injuries. He is listed in critical condition at this time.

His family and co workers are with him almost around the clock and he has in and out of conciousness.

Joe is set to be released from Mt. Sinai Rehab today 12/29/05. He will have to go through a long regimented rehab program as an outpatient.

Keep him in your thoughts as we head into 2006.....be safe and happy holidays brothers!

That's EXCELLENT news! I know it's gonna be a long tough road, but with all our thoughts and prayers behind him he should do fine. Sq288, please keep us informed.
