Lead time to FDNY academy

For anyone that has been appointed to FDNY within the last few years or anyone with very creditable information. Does anyone know how much lead time is received prior to the academy class starting? My one buddy said he had only a few days notice. Is less than a week standard? Don't want to show my cards at work too early yet I don't want to burn bridges if I don't get on the next class.

They can call you upto the day before. The time frame is very small.

I got on the job about 2 years ago and I had about a week and half notice. Average from most people is about 2 weeks not much more than that. It can be as little as one day as previously stated. I guess they figure if you really want the job you'll quit your job right away. I believe the next class starts in April. Not 100% sure on that though.

I have heard that they will sometimes call even the night before to fill vacant spots for people who drop out at the last moment.

i know a buddy of mine didnt find out till the night before....

i guess you just have to be prepared till the very last minute, literally!
