  1. Went to many call on that engine. Hard to believe that's all they got for it.
  2. Sad to say but I bet you see this kind of case start popping up more and more.
  3. Does anyone know of House locations in Las Vegas. Taking a trip out there and all I can find on line looks like their Administrative headquaters. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. Be nice to see FDNY get their own helicopter to do their own work.
  5. If you look at the pictures on the link you can see that there is an extension ladder set up to the roof. I believe it is on the side that ladder 14 (the Aerial on the street) is located. To me being a truck chauffer (for a short time) it wouldn't be a hard decision. I would stay on the street unless people were trapped. There are currently 2 ways off the roof on one side. That would be the minimum that I would want if I were working up there. One on each side of the front. If there are more on the back that would be even better. As for the Aerial on the hill, I think that it is placed as best it can be in the rear without seeing more picture of that side of the building and the ground. If the chauffer has the brake on, the front wheels chocked, and only operates directly over the cab I have no problem with that. Just as long as he doesn't sink it in the dirt/mud.
  6. This is a link to the FDNY web site to check. http://nyc.gov/html/fdny/html/community/firefighter.shtml You can also check on NYC DCAS web site. They handle all the applications.
  7. Thank you for the info. It is in East Farmingdale. Still in service but used as a parade engine.
  8. The city does have brush trucks stationed throughout the city where they could be needed. One is in rockaway section of Queens with E-266. The majority of them are on staten Island. I think there may be one in the brox too. I'll have to check and get back to you.
  9. If anyone comes across the 1973 Mack from Village of Mamaroneck let me know. I have heard that it went down to Viginia somewhere. I have tried all kinds of searches on the internet and can't come up with anything. Or the 1963 seagrave Tiller.
  10. I got on the job about 2 years ago and I had about a week and half notice. Average from most people is about 2 weeks not much more than that. It can be as little as one day as previously stated. I guess they figure if you really want the job you'll quit your job right away. I believe the next class starts in April. Not 100% sure on that though.
  11. I can't say a lot for rigs outside of NYC but inside Towers Are a hell of a lot slower to set up, in operation and to drive. The aerials can get set up and operate a lot faster. But the city likes towers to be in front just in case the building is lost and you can work a little better from a tower. But always remember quicker saves can be made from an aerial. Can you tell what I'm a fan of??!!
  12. Hfdr19 is correct. that is the 1920's tiller sitting behind Walters. By now it is probably not worth restoring if anybody wnated to. I was interested in the 1965 tiller. Last I heard it went out west somewhere. And interested in finding the locations of the 1973 mack from COlumbia. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you to those who have posted here.
  13. Just wondering if anyone out there knows who has or where Engine 41 1973 Mack CF went? Also trying to find the previous Ladder 20. I believe a 1965 seagrave tiller. Curious to see if they are still in service or just sitting somewhere.
