Coverage: New Windsor (Engine) & Cornwall (Truck) on s/b at VGFD Sta-1

Description: Working fire in a large SFD secondary to a lightening strike

1933hrs-Base-5 alerting Vails Gate for the reported roof on fire after a lightening strike, 65 Pin Oak Dr.

- While en-route, Base-5 advised that the caller is stating there is now a fire in a 2nd floor bathroom.

Car-3 arrived and confirmed fire in a 2nd floor bathroom and in the attic.

Car-1 arrived, established command and requested a 2nd alarm and tanker task force.

1st due E478 dropped their LDH and laid into the scene and it's crew led off with an 1 3/4" through the front door and up to the 2nd floor. They then gained access to the attic where they encountered heavy smoke, heat and fire.

At this time, fire started to self-vent from the roof on the 2/3 corner.

T482 and R480 arrived with their crews throwing ground ladders and going to the roof to further open up.

E481 arrived and reversed-laid it's LDH from E478's LDH back to the water drop area.

The crew of E481 then stretched the 2nd 1 3/4" line to the 2nd floor bathroom where fire had extended.

T484 backed up the driveway and placed it's aerial to the #2 side roof.

Crews worked from the roof and attic to open up until all fire was knocked down.

2004hrs-Command placing the fire under control.

2128hrs-All Vails Gate units back in service.
