  1. 30,000 pounds of mashed bananas
  2. Sprung hill is still in the same boat as other volunteer corps. They pay 2 crews from 0700-1900 M-F
  3. I know that in NJ. The car that it is the IC fir the event has a green light lit on the roof.
  4. I agree. It truly has been the mutual aid to the world truck. I used to love working it back in the day. Perhaps the county will fund it.
  5. Those facilities are owned by the county. And are either operated by a private company or the county. Not Westchester Medical Center. That from the word on the street is one of the reasons the medical center decided not to fund the 87A1 truck on the overnight. The vast majority of thr overnight calls although on the "campus". Had nothing to do with the medical center other then patients being transported there
  6. Don't forget that the medical center is also a tax payer in the town as are the rest of the companies in the town
  7. http://www.skiracing.com/?q=node/10349 "According to a report in the Oregonian last Friday, the family of the girl released a statement through an attorney claiming that Vietze had urinated on the floor next to the girl and that the famly "neither welcome nor encourage further publicity" on the matter."
  8. Heck they might just end up at the new orange regional medical center
  9. I would like to first say that i agree that you need to provide good clinical care for patients. I think if you look at the history of the part 800 equipment list in o2 therapy over the last 15 years the push to go to 100% high flow O2 has to do with lack of training / understanding of what is going on with the patient. ( to much I see this I do this). I have only been involved in EMS since the early 90's so i will not make comment on training earlier then that. In the 90's we had simple (rebreathing) mask, venturi masks (colored plugs able to deliver different concentrations of O2) non-rebreathing face masks, and nasal cannulas. and the great demand valve mask. O2 administration for non-rebreathing face mask used to be litter flow should be adjusted to keep bag inflated during patient respirations. too often then not people did not pay close enough attention to the patients respiratory status and the bag would not be filled thus not providing any O2 to the patient. Protocol change made to make it 10LPM same above problem occurred protocol change made to 12 and so her we are with cookie cutter mindset to protect the most amount of patients that are out there with minimal harm to the small percentage of patients that would be adverse. nothing will change till we will only accept good clinical judgment and retrain or purge those who can not provide it
  10. i was truly assamed to be a member of emergency services today. I was on a bike ride today and was shocked and a tad pissed at what I saw. a fire chief flycar parked in not only a firezone, but also blocking the roadway and a curb cut for handicap access. the truck was there for 20 min while he was eating his breakfast. the truly sad part is there were plenty of open spots.
  11. I was bike riding. My car was over 20 miles away parked in a legal spot
  12. Well I will just ask questions and here and not state or site any legal code or law. I first have to ask are we talking about criminal liability or civil liability in this discussion? if it is civil, well anyone can sue anyone at any time, the question becomes do you spend the money to fight it or let the insurance companies just settle?
  13. I potted a few months ago about alcohol policies that various agencies had. It was promptly removed by an admin. I did receive a PM from him saying it was nit censure just something they dd not feel was a right topic at the time for emtbravo. It is hard for me to see how it is niot a good discussion topic. But that is why I rarely chime in
  14. Before 1999 they had a 109 power and were trying to decide between the MD explorer and the EC135. They replaced the 109 power with the EC135 which they use still to today
  15. Hey Rob did DHART still have the 109 power when youovee to NH? I used to live being in that aircraft
  16. Just a question on what the policy different agencies have on use of alcohol. This is not a specific question against a specific agency just a blanket question as there are many volunteer agencies that either tone out for a response without a schedule or have bars in the physical building.
  17. Not sure if I heard this correctly but 4 unanswered calls for croton EMS all requiring mutual aid. Are their buses OOS? Or just staffing?
  18. Ok so back to my question if it is a staffing issue that seems to be the issue. Does the agency make a hold members to a riding schedule or do they tone out and hope they get a crew?
  19. Well considering the only 2 reasons for someone to call for an ambulance is 1 physical transportation and the other being requesting help cause the situation has gotten out of what they deem they can handle the lack of The ambulance hitting the road seems like a pretty big issue The question that has still yet to be answered is if they were experiencing a staffing issue do they notify adjacent agencies so they can perhaps increase their staffing
  20. So based on that assumption is it also fair to speculate that they do not have a riding schedule and just tone out and hope that they can assemble a crew
  21. It was a question as to is this a mechanical vechicle issue or more if a staffing issue. And since all this talk of mutual aid in a different thread. I am curious to know if it is indeed either a mechanical issue were surrounding mutual aid agencies notified to perhaps allow them to prepare for an increase in call volume
  22. L.I.C.H has been using trucks like this since the late 80's. At one point in the early to mid 90's the cab was a mitusbishi FUSO front with a similar box on the back.
  23. The rescue body freightliner is gone and has been replaced with 2 new Ford E450 superduty van fronts with larger "Volly" size patient area
  24. Just curious if anyone has ever seen or used this radio I have never heard of the company but the radio looks interesting? http://www.holzberg....cts/dbandy.html
