  2. Durning the Dutchess County Firemans Parade on 7/12/2008 the stand by crew at Rombout Fire house decided help them out by polishing their 62-14 and look what they found , the fire truck is really RED under all than cream paint. We offered our services to help with the other trucks , lets see what they say. Sorry Guys almost forgot this picture
  3. Just to set the record straight contrary to everyone's belief it was not Riner's idea. Do you guys really think he could come up with something that good.
  4. Does anyone have any other info on the Fall's fire last night. I know they requested 3 ambulances and 911 advised both Stat Flight helicopters were avalible. Were they injurys or ware they just for rehab ??
  5. He started to walk out towards Lk Suprise where they went in from. Chris , there really isnt anyway to pick someone off the trails from our side of the mtn , you look up at the sky and all you see is leaves and branches. I've ridden this mtn for years and it's probley close to a mile from the bottom of the tower over to the road that comes up from beacon. Next time I'm up there I plan on taking GPS readings and recording mileage markers. The biggest problem with all these Mtn rescues seems to be the people getting lost or hurt have NO CLUE where they are so it's hard to figure out where to start.
  6. If he was right at the fire tower we would have called for a helicopter . The problem is he started to walk down himself and then he realized he was hurt (lower back & possible broken ribs). At that point if we wanted to air lift him out we would have had to carry him almost 3/4 of a mile and that would have been all uphill just to the base of the tower , then up a hill that some people have a hard time walking up without carring a stokes. That hill is a least a 1/4 mile straight up. It was just safer to come downthe mtn rather than go up. 21-3-2 is our 6 wheel gator I must have hit the 3 instead of 2 in my orginal post sorry
  7. They dont like to tranqualize bears on the ground because if you dont hit them in just the right place they will run off and chances are very slim you will recover the animal , which sometimes leads to the death of it. When it's in a tree there is no where for him to go while the drugs kick in. Once they hit the ground they usually pump it full of antibotics and other drugs which they cant do if it runs off.
  8. Did the bear kill someone or was it maybe a threat to someone. Probely not so why kill it. If it was a deer walking by I-290 I bet they would'nt have shot it so why the bear. If you LEAVE THEM ALONE they are more afraid of you than you are of them.
  9. X129K this must stay between you and I because I dont think anyone knows this. You can as I did kill a bear with a pistol , I used my .357 and I found him within 50yds. I even know guys that have killed them with those sticks you shoot. But please it's our little secret
  10. If the average non hunter see's a bear and says it's 300lbs you better cut that weight in half. It's very hard to judge the weight of a bear , I've hunted them for years and when I shot my first one I thought it was 350 plus. Turns out he was only 155. Hopefully they will leave them alone.

  19. What you had there was a Milk snake which are mistaken for copperheads all the time. The difference in the two snakes are # 1 a copperhead is a viper giving him a diamond shapped head (and venom) and # 2 the milk snake has a black outline around all his body markings copperheads do not. Hope this helps

  21. Just wanted to see if anyone out there was using covers on there 4.5 scott air bottles. We had a couple bottles condemned from being dragged durning training over the last few years. If so what are you using ?
  22. M and M Army Navy in Poughkeepsie
  23. All the bottles have been damaged durning traning FF1 class or Fast Training. We took the old bottles and painted them red and use them on our training dummy. We've been looking into bottle covers but their about 40 bucks each and then the labor to take the valve out and reinstall is about 10 bucks. 50 bucks x 40 bottles OUCH but at the price of new bottles it may be worth it.
