  4. Boo-hoo. I would be more then happy to have that truck. I belong to a Department that could use 2 or 3 support vehicles, but due to caveman thinking on the village board - we'll never see it. And I quote one of these wizards, "We've always had 3 pumpers, why do we need a 4th?" Despite a growing community and longer turnaround times from service...... Duh. ](*,)
  5. I didn't know Mahopac had 3 stations. How many rigs total do you have?

  8. You can also pick up a copy of their Training Catalog at Camp Smith or even the Westchester County Fire Training Center. Camp Smith is a SUPER resource that is commonly overlooked. The courses there are generally great, especially all of the Tech Rescue stuff. We need to boost the enrollment - or we may lose it!
  9. Didn't they make airplanes or something at that plant?

  15. You've got 30-Alpha-1. You've got 75-Bravo-1. You also have 37-Medic-1. And even 80-Utility-4. Now will we have a 69-Condom-3??? Good heavens!
  16. Hey Andy, I have to agree with you. TL44 is a great rig, and I'll be the first to admit I was a little negative at first. It's a great resource, but I still miss the old L44.
  17. EMD is not the only benefit of 60 Control. For all those in the fire service, you can benefit greatly from the CIDS Info that is stored. CIDS info gives address specific information about a building, complex, etc. Building type, construction, water supply issues, standpipe hookups, occupancy info, etc. The CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) program 60 utilizes is great. It has its minor issues, but thats a county way of life. As soon as an address is entered in the CAD, it tells the dispatcher who to send, the cross-streets, and provides a map of the area. If mutual aid is needed, fall-back lists are there, automatically suggesting the next mutual aid agency. Furthermore, if you get dispatched by your own PD or FD, you only have the capability of transmitting from one tower. What if it craps out? Its happened to us several times. Guess what, we have to have 60 Control dispatch us from one or more of the NINE 46.26 towers in the county. So, on top of getting pre-arrival instrucitons for EMS - the benefits of 60 control dispatching keeps going. For more info, go to the following: www.westchestergov.com/emergserv and click on the 60 control icon.
  18. The incident in question was one involving my Dept. Our Chief and our Marine unit signed on, that's it. The rest was the "other guys." We couldn't even report we were responding becuase their was too much traffice. Now, from a technical stand-point...the Hudson River Water Rescue Assosciation supposedly made a policy that all River operations are to be on 46.14. How come it isn't enforced? I heard M4 & M5 on 46.26 the other day going on a call too. Are we all too dumb to switch channels. I was on our Marine unit when we went out, and I made the suggestion to change, but since the incident was not "ours" the choice was in the hands of "their command." Also - I don't disagree with hudson's point about too many chiefs and no indians. But in most people's defense - sometimes one doesn't hear the other. That's why dispatchers, both 60 control and others, should repeat transmissions - IE "E123 is 10-17." and 60 control should repeat it "10-4 E123, 10-17 @1448. Just some thoughts...
  19. 60 Control received the incident direct from 2343. He reported an MVA w/ Injuries and confirmed entrapment.

  24. Croton used to have a local church priest serve as the Dept. Chaplain. He had a badge and from what I recall, I believe he also had gear. Unfortunatly, he was busier doing "unlawful" things then answering fire calls. He is no longer affiliated with CFD or the church...... ](*,)
