  1. Ho Ho Chinese Food on Bronx River Road, Yonkers just below Midland Avenue-Broad Street interesection. The egg rolls are big, and fat--the way they all used to be. Place has such good food they have three cash registers going.
  2. Anybody formally requesting these tapes is legally entitled to them per the court ruling in accordance with the Freedom of Information Law. You are legally entitled to all of it. Period.
  3. It wobbles but slightly tightens when turned counterclockwise. You cannot pull it out as it snaps in. How do I fix this please? How do I permanently tighten it up? Nothing in the owner's manual about this. Thank You and Stay Cool.
  4. Anybody else not hearing YPD channel 3 lately? The real test will be tonight if they do their speed detail near me on Central Avenue, otherwise, it's not coming through lately on my BC785. Their other two channels are loud and clear though. Anybody else have this problem ??? Thanks
  5. P.S.--There's a signed 8 x 10 of Palladino on display in Gino's Pizzeria over here on Pondfield Road West, along with one of the owner's daughter Erika Vetrini from "The Apprentice" and "Tony Danza Show." But I wish more Yonkers cops and firemen would move in around here instead of upcounty. Stay Cool
  6. Featured actor Erik Palladino is from Cassilus Avenue in Yonkers. His parents still live there and sent notice to our homeowner's newsletter about his appearance in the show.
  7. Heard, unconfirmed, they may do their big shoot out scene in downtown Yonkers on Buena Vista Avenue where Spielberg filmed or nearby in Larkin Plaza vicinity. Will post if I get definite info.
  8. Check out gasbuddy.com for the cheapest in your own areas.
  9. Saw a city bid notice appearing both yesterday and last Friday seeking architectural and design services for detention center. Does this mean a new city jail is being designed? The wording of this doesn't sound like rehabilitation of the existing facility which likely will be replaced when the massive Alexander Street development occurs very soon---1500 units of luxury housing, etc. Truck 4 help me on this one. Stay Cool.
  10. It's back...loud and clear.....and boring as ever.
  11. The base model digital scanners are slightly better than the portables based on conversations with others having the portables.BC785 is quite good, and since it's discontinued, you can get it pretty cheap. Try scannermaster.com
  12. Doesn't Snooze 12 have a scanner any longer? I saw one up there a couple of years back.
  13. Oswegowind, Last night again I couldn't get channel 3 when two units switched over to it from the east side. No problems with Channels 1 and 2 though. What's up with channel 3 lately ?????? Thanks
  14. is there any way that I can block out the county fire calls on 453.925 and only hear Yonkers PD on that same channel ???? Yonkers PD doesn't use this frequency too often. But what i county calls start "stepping on" Yonkers PD transmissions??? Why did the FCC give the county use of this frequency if Yonkers is so close by?
  15. I pick up Putnam County on 453.925, but not Yonkers PD. What's up with this???? No problems with YPD channels 1 and 2.
  16. It's a shameful scandal that will only result in poor quality applicants. They are also lowering the hiring standards by now allowing applicants with some felony records. True story. Hoping the local media picks up on this whole thing too. The result will be disatrous for both NYC and neighboring communities like Yonkers that are frequented by NYC criminals.
  17. I lowered the antenna and don't receive the Putnam stuff anymore. Hopefully YPD Channel 3 will again be heard.
  18. YonkersR3, Hope you get YFD feed soon. Problem may be that the cops control the dispatching and maybe they are uptight about allowing it. That is just a guess on my part. Maybe one of this board's moderators can weigh in on that. Most surprising nobody has so far attempted a YFD live feed. Happy July 4th to all.
  19. Police Commissioner Taggart spoke at the mayor's town hall meeting the other night and said he is asking NY State PD to help patrol Central Park Avenue which happens to be a state arterial. The State cops have helped out a few times with County PD on the Thursday night youth detail at the Kohl's parking lot. Hope we can get the state cops here for good, but it may be shakey to pull off.
  20. P.S. As widely reported in the media, there have been too many auto fatalities and accidents along Central Park Avenue. The intersection of Central at Arlington Street was rated as the most dangerous in the county not too long ago. It's not uncommon for the YPD traffic cops to give out close to 100 summonses during their nightly speed details. No kidding, 100 tickets in just one evening. There are also numerous cars impounded for suspended licenses, and a few arrests for active warrants, etc. So any help from NY State is needed. This is a state roadway.
  21. roeems87, Thanks for the compliments. Yes, the State ssistance would likely be for traffic enforcement only. I should have mentioned that key point in my posting.
  22. Yes, I live in Yonkers. Only lately is channel 3 not coming in. What do you mean about setting the low-mid high? Channels 1 and 2 are coming in perfect. Thanks,
  23. Check out www.rigpix.com Great photos of vintage scanners..
  24. Was visitng the Yonkers Racetrack fleamarket yesterday and noticed former YFD tower ladder 71 with some other vehicles waiting to be auctioned in June. It's located on Yonkers Avenue entrance on the east side of the parking lot as you drive in.
  25. They are being used in Martin Scorcese's "The Departed" which is filming in NYC and Boston right now. Not sure if they are filming outside of the studio in Yonkers where they are parked at 291 Tuckahoe Road. Opposite Shop Rite.
