  1. What about you having been an Ardsley FF you forget already
  2. WHo needs News 12 we ahve EMtbravo
  3. Hey the Tampa Bay Devil Rays are tied for FIRST.. Remember this day it may never happen again
  4. Just an opinion but why do departments have live burn drills and then burn the house to the ground.
  5. no those were live burns in 55 gallon drums.
  6. Just a tidbit but only four teams lost thier home opener this opening day Tampa Bay Pittsburgh Arizona Houston
  7. Does anybody know what is the situation with the counties new radio program. I heard a rumor that the county is going to issue more fireground radios to each department and change fireground channels for each department.
  8. Just to clarify I was not trying to say anything about the drill in the Hills by starting this topic, sorry if that is what it turned into. Being from a southern westchester town a full blown live fire drill would never be thought of, just wanted to know a little about it. So from anyone from that drill can you describe the procedures you have to go through to conduct a drill like that
  9. how about if possible to take one member of a FAST and make them the accountability officer. This allows the team to be aware of what members are outstanding.
  10. Shouldn't it just be an SOG to put your gear on before getting in the engine. :-k
  11. PBVPM I agree with you I do not do what I do to make money but if someone is initiating this then we should go along with it. But the $1000 is not going to make or break anyone. I do believe that offering Medical benefits to all volunteers should be offered instead of this tax credit.
  12. Any management course would tell you to emphasize the positives. I am not sure how FDNY does anything but it should be a requirement to take a management course that talks about how to talk to your members or employees. I am sure every department volunteer or paid has the same problem. I watch American hot rod every friday and love how Boyd treats his employees, makes you want to work for him. Any happy employee, no matter what the profession is, would do anything for thier employeer if they are happy. Being happy also makes you forget how under paid you think you are. Also understand the not everyone, especially people not from the fire service do not understand paying your dues. How many departments have younger guys that think they are above washing rigs?
  13. I know we clsoed the previous thred but does anybody know how we can get behind this
  14. Hoss you are 100% correct. I am behind this but the true problem is the government needs thier money one way or another. Look at what happened in NJ several years ago.
  15. Does anyone have more information how we can get behind this and support it?
  16. Pentagon seeks to create robotic battlefield surgeon Tue Mar 29,12:30 PM ET WASHINGTON (AFP) - Before the Terminator, the US military is looking to hire the Operator, a top-notch battlefield surgeon. But those made of flesh and blood need not apply. A contract awarded by the Pentagon to a consortium of universities and high-tech firms on Monday calls for creating a versatile robot able to perform life-saving surgery on wounded soldiers right on the battlefield. "The result will be a major step forward in saving lives on the battlefield," said Scott Seaton, an executive director with SRI International, a company that will be the lead contractor on the 12-million-dollar, two-year project. He said his Silicon Valley-based firm has a long history of meeting America's defense needs, "and this program continues in that tradition." The request comes amid mounting military casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan, where US troops are trying to hunt down Islamic militants. The two wars have already claimed the lives of 1,686 US servicemen and left a total 11,877 others wounded, according to the latest Defense Department figures. The wounds of more than half of those hurt turn out to be serious enough that they require extended treatment. If everything works according to plan, the "trauma pod," as the robotic surgical system is called, will be able to stabilize injured soldiers within minutes and administer medical and surgical care prior to or during evacuation. The concept is a step up from the Da Vinci surgical system approved by the US government five years ago and already used in dozens of hospitals, officials said. When using it, the surgeon is seated comfortably at a console away from the operating table. Viewing a three-dimensional image of his target, the doctor relies on master controls to operate robotic arms that respond to every movement of his hands, wrists and fingers and wield surgical instruments inside the patient according to his wishes. The Da Vinci system has proven to be successful for some of the most complicated types of surgery because it often allows doctors to minimize incisions, reducing post-operative trauma. Scientists believe this surgery by remote control could now be transferred to the battlefield. When fully developed, the "trauma pod" will dramatically reduce the need for human medical personnel on the battlefield, officials said. It will be small enough to be carried by most army vehicles or a helicopter. A doctor will use a system of surgical manipulators to operate from a remote location via video link. One of the major challenges, according to scientists, will be to make these video links stable and reliable enough and to teach the robot to change instruments without the help of a nurse. The contractors on the project also include General Dynamics, the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and the Universities of Texas, Maryland and Washington.
  17. Nice annual report, at least they tell you no new hires last year not just give me your $50. The one thing I cant understand is why do they lump together uniforms and safety supplies, and i see this all the time but other professional services are 506,000 75% of total purchased services break it down a little bit, but 11 million is not bad for 129 member department $85,271 spent per member not bad at all
  18. Dont forget about Robert Blake. Who leaves thier gun in a resturant.
  19. I think the Positive ID is not a good term for a Blood Drive. Lol Every Department should sponsor a blood drive.
  20. I'm all over that. Oops I'll be in Key West
  21. MLB

It is right around the corner and I know there are some of you who might be as excited as I am. I am totally bored watching the sports that are on now and need something to fill in those Saturdays instead of Skiing and ice skating. So lets talk baseball 1. Who do you think is going to the WS (dont forget there is 2 leagues)? 2. Who do you think the player to watch out for is? 3. Who besides the entire Yankees team is going to the All-Star game? 4. Who has plans for a road trip to a different stadium besides Shea and Yankee Stadium? 5. Anybody have any good baseball stories? How about a EMTBRAVO fund raiser to a baseball game, even though Seth is not a big baseball fan, except for the whole Red Sox thing.
  22. MLB

each team has to be represented in the All-Star game. By the way GO METS
  23. Two things. Does a department that has multiple companies have all the companies go or not, I and Mstrang are from a 1 company department. I get Mstrang's point we go to Mamaroneck and bring a ladder, an engine, an antique, and 30 guys. We only have 2 engines and a quint, antique and 40 active members. My issue is we hold back guys from the training center to cover our district on a drill night but not to a parade. But my main post was not to create a war but to establish freindship amongst other departments. Also dont think because you are an officer means you have a say.
  24. Since the other thread on drinking is going so well lol. This is a site that is based on friendship, so what parades is each department going to. Ardsley is going to (I might have missed one don't have the calendar in front of me, thats what Jen is for) P'Ville Hudson Valley Mamaroneck Irvington Hastings Peekskill Mount Kisco As they get closer maybe we can set an EMTBRAVO meeting point, so we can kick each others asses for all the arguing we have done. lol
  25. The one thing I havent heard on this thread is the fact that so many ffs get trashed at a parade and walk around with the public in uniform, or just that ffs walk around before a parade with open beer bottles on the street or the schools parking lot, which is against the law. I can't imagine a time when you will be seen by more of the public in uniform then at a parade. I remember in 1996 when Ardsley hosted the WCVFA and a man from some department walked straight into the flag pole, was the public watching then of course. Don't get me wrong I am not saying that I am an angel as anyone that knows me can tell you I am not. But if people have problems with it when their department goes to the bar after a drill do you rip into the guys that get bombed and park their car outside with the 300 lights on top of it, or tell your department not to serve beer after a parade or even better dont have an officers party in your own firehouse. What I am actually saying is that look at what we do on peoples front lawns, in thier streets, on their schools property, or their parks instead of an establishment that everyone there is going their for the exact same reason you are. But don't forget at your local watering hole those people will notice what department you are from because you are wearing something that represents your deparment. I believe this thread was created to improve on others mistakes or on good they have done so, congratulations to the guys that went home and changed first be that drunk assxxxx, just not that drunk assxxxx fireman. Think before you do and dont ruin all the good you have done for a night of fun.
