  1. If you can't get the senior members to realize that there is a problem and you have exhausted all internal options, try to get help from your primary hospital's medical director. This is a seldom used resource by the local VACs. He/she can help the senior members understand the need for change, for the better. If you need to approach your local government, the medical director can assist you.
  2. The first White Plains Hospital Paramedic class was a level 4 up-grade. Many of the first "medics" in Westchester were first AEMT-3 (300 hour class). White Plains Hospital ran one of the first, in the area, level 4 up-grades. Greenburgh P.D. was already running level 4 Paramedics. Way before that the New Rochelle Hospital Ambulance Department ran a modified EMT-I service. There would be an "intern" that was assigned to ambulance duty, along with the other hospital duties/rounds. The hospital EMT's (back then they were MET's) would assist the intern with what ever had to be done. EMS has come along way. "If the walls at Abbey could talk".
  3. to stand behind any emergency vehicle to push a button is an accident waiting to happen. With all the money that is spent on new rigs, they should included back up cameras and back up sensors. My "old 2000 Ford Windstar" mini van had a back up sensor that worked great and now I have a car with a back up camera and another with a camera and back up sensors. With technology where it is today, ALL Vehicles should be equipped with these SAFETY features.
  4. I know what you mean....A blonde in a 70's style nurse's outfit....oh baby!!! Too old for Johnny....and Roy was married.
  5. If you are a big fan of Dixie McCall (Julie London) then you would know that before Emergency she was a singer that had the hit song Cry Me A River. Now you know.
  6. Seth's personnel activities really has nothing to do with the life or death of this web site. I agree that maybe his laundry should have stayed in house. That really is not the issue here. It cost money to run a web site and if this web site can not survive on the corporate sponsorships/advertising, then membership fees might have to be the way to go. The bottom line is money and I don't believe that a site like this one should be the sol financial responsibility of Seth. If he can make money in the process and continue to grow EMTBravo, 2 thumbs up.
  7. Cry Me A River!
  8. I know what you mean. After being out on 207-A for 2 1/2 years, I went about 40K into debt. No side work or O.T. it adds up fast. I could not wait for tax time to roll around. Getting a 207-A retirement has helped, but it will take a long time to pay off my debt.
  9. The posting above my post talked about not going near any wires and that is a good concept to follow. With that said how many time the "stick" is place near phone or cable T.V. lines. All too often we forget or don't realize that there are 13Kv or higher running thru the "overhead (ariel) cable" lines (ELECTRIC). These "cables" run real close to the cable T.V. lines. In the Thornwood picture it looks like if someone went up the ladder part of the TL and stood up they would come in contact with the an energized line. Just because it's close to a cable T.V. or phone lines doesn't mean it can't hurt you. Before you put up any ladder, LOOK UP. That goes for when your working around the your home also. Stay Safe.
  10. After reading the blogs re: electrical lines, take a close look at the truck on the 4 side. It looks like they are real close to 2 ariel (overhead) electrical cables.
  11. I saw that too. If thats a service charge that goes to pay pal I would rather send a check for the total amount to EMTBravo.
  12. Will you take a personnel check????
  13. Is the dept that small that they can put the P.O's. name on it? Or is it like CT State Police , were each officer gets a car and they take it home at the end of the shift?
  14. Maybe the guys from Mt. Vernon can give the Bridgeport chaps a few pointers on decorating the single wide.
  15. Good thing it wasn't the transmit button hand!!! 10-8 Grant
  16. Sometimes the old ways are still the best. Remember when it took 2 people to work a stretcher. Maybe this guy is too young to remember!!! http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c35d7ceb04
  17. mcf2257 You have brought up a lot of good points. I like that you also put together an approach as to how to accomplish, or at least how to start and a few different avenues to take. At least more then one person has agreed to your concept. No journey can take place until the first step is taken.
  18. The Ladder 13 that appears in the children's book had a MAJOR mechanical failure which caused it to be placed out of service and then removed from the city about 10 years ago. The current Ladder 13 replaced it about a year after it was placed O/S. The old ladder was REBUILT and is now a spare ladder somewhere in Virginia I believe.
  19. The firefighter sliding down the pole is FF Anthony Costa. The picture was taken at Sta. 2 on Webster Ave.
  20. I like the new Christmas skin and color lay out. Very easy on the eyes. Maybe we can have more colorful layouts in the future.
  21. I wouldn't mind having use of a H2 or H3 Hummer during a disaster, so long as I can keep when things stabilize.
  22. Never heard of that before. However I always wish that 4 gods appear in my poker hands.
