  1. "GREENville" N.C. ........seems like a no brainer.......THE RIG COLORS SHOULD BE ...GREEN.........
  2. White over red........other colors in the running were.......black over red.....and...gun steel blue It will also have a light tower and 750 gal booster tank (no red line)......pretty much a standard pumper after that.
  3. In a nut shell.........with out poeple at the top that really care nothing will get done. The commissioner has to step up to the plate and give his workers an enviroment that will put a smile on their faces and bounce in their step. I bet Ernie's office and his car puts a smile on on his face every morning. He seems to always have a smile when he on TV or in the paper.
  4. Just a few random thought......... Many home owners policies have "Fire Department Salvage" coverage. I'm not sure if thats the proper term. This allows, in my policy, up to $500 that the Fire Department can bill the insurance company, if there was ANY type of fire, smoke or water condition at my house. If the FD did any type of salvage to minimize the damage, they would be entitled to that money. It was explained to me to give the FD's an incentive to cover furniture, cover holes in the roof, cover the windows, remove water etc. before the insurance company/owner can get a company in to do it. I think the FD's don't bill for it because the home owner pays fire taxes for the service. On that note I pay for my homeowners insurance and I pay for that benifit, why not let the FD's get that money. It could either help to improve services or reduce my tax bill. Either way I pay a little more tax or I pay a little more for my insurance. The cities and towns bill for ambulance transport because most everyone has some type of medical insurance that covers ambulance transport. Every FD will bill for a large scale Haz-Mat call, why, because they can and the responsible party has the insurance to pay for it. Why not tap into another form of funds that most of us are already paying for?
  5. Like a 5 star chef, I bet he doesn't clean up after he's done creating.
  6. Thats right you DO NOT have to belong to the union, However: You still get all the pay raises and all the benefits that are negotiated from the fire dist., town or city that you work for, weather or not you belong to the local/union. The employer is going to have 1 agreed upon contract. They don't care if you are in the union or not. What gets negotiated is that the "Union" will be the only bargaining unit. If you are not a member of that unit you do not have a say in its business dealings. Also, you may not be entitled to go to the annual firefighters ball or the picnic. You will still get your dental and eye glass benefits. One thing that the local will do for you is deduct union dues from you even if you choose not to join the union. This is allowed because of the above. They still negotiate for you and you benefit from their time and expense in the negotiations.
  7. After tonights events, I have to revise the about statement......... GO BOSTON..........LETS GO METS (IN 2008) SORRY JD, GOT TO GO WITH BOSTON. The tribe did a fine job on the Bronx Bums.........Now all of their fans will come out with all of the excuses and all to old clishe's...........Got rings...20 something.....you get the picture. Accept it, the Yankees aren't the power house they use to be. Remember this chishe'........"3PEAT"........Thats right this is the 3rd year in a row that the Yanks did not advance in the post season. There has been a call back of suicide prevention hotline operators in the grater N.Y. Metro area to handle increase. Stay Safe..............GO BOSTON
  8. Chris, I found a set of car keys in my back yard. Did you loose them on one of your fly overs in New Rochelle?????????
  9. This is what bothers me the most about Yankee fans. They can't accept defeat. They always have to bring up the past. Any team can have a bad year, series of games or one game at that. Maybe other teams step up to the plate a little more then the Yanks do, it happens. Get over it and just come to terms with the situation and say what every other baseball fan would say at this point, "JUST WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR". GO BOSTON........GO TRIBE.......LETS GO METS (IN 2008)
  10. Red Sox fan assaulted in Yonkers bar By NICOLE NEROULIAS THE JOURNAL NEWS (Original publication: October 5, 2007) YONKERS - A 25-year-old Florida man was brutally beaten by Yonkers bar patrons who questioned his allegiance to the Boston Red Sox, police said. Yonkers police say two men from Pennsylvania have been arrested on assault charges in the attack on Carlos Ortez in the parking lot of the Ramada Inn at 125 Tuckahoe Road. The victim, a carpenter, was in New York working on a construction project in a Manhattan hotel. He was watching a Red Sox-Angels playoff game shortly after midnight yesterday with co-workers at the Ramada Inn bar, where one of the suspects allegedly asked him if he had pride in Boston. The two suspects later followed Ortez from the bar and allegedly attacked him, police said. Ortez is being treated for multiple facial fractures at Westchester Medical Center. The suspects, Duane Somers, 32, of Huntingdon, Pa., and Edward McConaughey, 42, of Orbisonia, Pa., were charged with second-degree assault. They were arraigned in Yonkers City Court yesterday and ordered to return to court on Wednesday. Bail was set at $10,000, police said. The two remained in the Westchester County jail this morning. The Associated Press contributed information for this report. JD If the Tribe should SWEEP the Yanks, you better not wear your teams' colors. The Yankee fans just can't accept the pain of defeat. And they haven't even played Boston yet. GO BOSTON
  11. And they will have every excuse in the book why they were out played. For the monies that they get the game should have been a little closer in the score. P.S. GO BOSTON
  12. Here goes that old saying. I root for 2 teams, the METS and whoever is playing the Yankees!!!!!!! P.S. GO BOSTON!!!!!
  13. Well it's not like the citizens of Poughkeepsie are airing out their "DIRTY" laundry!!!!! Then again, maybe it would be a little more interesting if they did.
  14. I guess they didn't want to pay the toll !!!!
  15. JBE...Not long after the first plane hit the North Tower, I was listening to Manhattan Dispatch. I was impressed on how all of the dispatchers stayed composed and did their jobs. I heard the 2nd plane into the South Tower, the collaspe of the South Tower and the North Tower. All the time it seamed that the dispatchers were handling a normal day of muti-alarm incidents. I can only imagine the chaos that was behind the scenes. All of the FDNY dispatchers working that day in all of the centers, should be very proud of how they handled themselves that morning. We all know that you can never train for anything of that magnitude. You can only hope that you can step up a few and handle it, and The dispatchers did. God Bless and NEVER FORGET
  16. Congratulations to Chief Peloso and the members, past and present, of the Town of Mamaroneck Fire Department for 100 years of service.
  17. Laws have changed since 1991. Back then we all offered patient info to anyone who asked. Now you need a subpoena and that does not give you the right to share the info with John Q. Public. This of couse can be shared if the patient allows it. I'm not blaming the the crew, but it seems that someone in the ambulance corps, police or village administration let this info go public. Everyone has to abide by the HIPAA rules, not just EMS.
  18. Is it just me or does it look like the Journal News got a look at the PCR or an incident report with the patient's medical info on it. One word.....HIPAA.
  19. I wonder if the underlining reason for the female EMT's to get involved in this is due to the low pay that EMS workers receive. The D.C.F.D. has had its problems hiring and retaining people in the EMS divison. This might be the result of low pay and second class status that has been attached to the industry. I hope that the D.C.F.D. has not had to LOWER their standards to fill these EMT postions that the accused EMT's have filled.
  20. In parts of Europe many small Fire Depts have this type of speciality equipment. In Poland there is a department that area wide is about the size of Yonkers and runs out of 2 Stations. The area is so large that mutual aid is almost non-existent. Except to the outlining area of the city. You can browse a full service F.D. at this link (if you can read Polish it might be more interesting). www.straz.olsztyn.pl
  21. It was done again....this is a larger "WHAT CAR ARE WE SUPPOSE TO CUT UP" mix up. I guess the owners of the wrong house now can get their house repaired at the towns expense.
  22. Anyone know why the F-16s are flying over lower Westchester??????
  23. After hearing the history of aviation, the one who came to closest to the pin by the way of explaining, what they were doing over lower Westchester, is VACGUY. Thanks for all your imput. I did not think that there was so much interest about jets over Westchester. There certainly was never such interest about helicopters over Westchester (sorry Chris192, Mayby if you put the sidwinders on the bird there might be more interest).
