  2. We have in the Valley a 2000 F-450 Brush unit with a Pnemac/Foam Pro CAFS slide in unit(24-3-1). 5. Part of Westchesters problem is nothing is channel guarded with PL codes--drives me nuts!!!
  6. In our chain of command our Captain is the OIC of water supply ops. We utilize the following positions-Chief, 1st and 2nd asst. chiefs, Captain, 1st lieutenant, and 3 Second lieutenants. The pre req for becoming an officer is 3 years of active service, Pump Ops (and now EVOC) for everuthing up to 1st lieutenant. You cannot advance above a lieutenants position without compleating an officers training course. You also must hold the position of Lieutenant for a minimum of 3 years. Under a "normal" cycle, you have 10 years as an officer when you enter your 6 years of a Chiefs position. I am in favor of requiring more training for our officers--going forward of course, the "top" of our list now has more more than sufficient training and experiance. For the most part--I have noticed-if you have any plans on becoming an officer--you already have taken a bunch of classes and will continue to--you love what you do and want to do more--you give your time--hours and hours of time dedication, you are not only making a committment to "hold a position", you are a leader, teacher, mentor, and ultimately--the burdon is on you--you are responsible for your people--you need to grow and learn so you can pass your knowledge along
  7. Thanks--when we host our "in service" gathering I will post it here!!
  8. It Has arrived!!! Currently hiding out at the main station until it is put into service (train drivers, load up all the equipment etc!!!)Looks incredible!! Fine job by the comittee. More pics to follow soon.
  9. You are 100% correct--the only thing--maybe if the crew responded on the 1st or 2nd tone out they could gt there in time also. I am not slamming anyone--as I am sure you hear when you are working--there are a lot of times all you hear is tones and tones----and tones. By the way--the new crew up there seems to be coming along very well--keep up the good work!!
  10. Very interasting. Thanks

  22. Let's say I have inside information on this topic--Cablevision covers very little in Putnam. Putnam Valley and Phillipstown to be exact. SusCom covers the rest The Westchester news should stay just that--Westchester. The news director has a thing for Yonkers (if ya didn't notice) so you better have a bigger story. They for whatever reason--seldom come to the Valley--matter of fact--at one of OUR fires--they filmed Mohegan's F.A.S.team. If I understood correctly, the former NewsCenter 6 is back covering the Dutchess area (they just might become a News 12). Who knows what will happen if/when Rainbow media splits from Cablevision Systems. Only time will tell!!!
