  2. There are inspirational people in this world who devote themselves to the service of others.

Brett and Dawn Roberts are two of these people.

Brett, a longtime EMT for the Tarrytown Ambulance Corps, has dedicated himself to Emergency Medical Service and has built a wonderful reputation as a fantastic EMT and Tarrytown Tactical EMT Team Member. More importantly, Brett continues to be a wonderful friend, co-worker, husband and father. While his professionalism has allowed him to develop an impressive career, his personality has allowed him to touch so many people.

Dawn, a Veterinary Technician, has dedicated her career to helping and providing for our fury friends and pets. She delivers extreme care to any animal that she works with and is the definition of a hard worker. Dawn is a devoted mother and, as those who know her personally would say, a complete “sweetheart.”

    Now, they need OUR help.

Their son, fifteen month old Trevor Roberts, was recently diagnosed with Retinoblastoma. Retinoblastoma is a cancerous tumor in the eye. In Trevor’s case the tumor was located in the left eye.

Last week, Trevor underwent surgery and his left eye was surgically removed along with the tumor. The surgery was a success as follow-up MRI’s have been very positive.

Trevor is now undergoing testing so the doctors can decide the next course of treatment which may include chemotherapy and aggressive monitoring to limit the spread of cancer.

Trevor will have a prosthetic eye and will have to take extreme measures to protect his eye for the rest of his life. He will continue to be threatened by cancer and unfortunately his battle is just beginning.

The operations, current and future treatment for Trevor have caused a large financial burden on the family. Both Brett and Dawn have been forced to take unpaid leave from work and medical insurance is not able to cover all of the costs.

Let us come together as a community of friends, family and supporters to help Trevor, Brett and Dawn.

Please make a donation to help this family in need!

Let’s all show our LOVE FOR TREVOR.

  3. 1) How experienced are most depts./municipalities at this vs. the manufacturers?

    TRUE, So TRUE!

    2) The big problem is how much time is needed for a minor change vs. a major one? What if what the customer wants is a minor change (i.e. will take the factory 5 minutes to change out a switch), but it will take 2 weeks for them to order it and receive it? Should they have to pay $14,000 in fines (based on $100 a day)?

Agreed that wouldn't be reasonable. Try being a general contractor on public works project sometime.
