  1. I recently had the opportunity to take pictures of of Peekskill's Office Of Emergency Management Mobile Command Unit. Peekskill's OEM is in charge of large events such as their 4th of July Fireworks , and the Peekskill Celebration. They are also called to structure fire's and large scale events that may occur. Peekskill's OEM has also collaborated with NYPD, and various other counties and police departments.
  2. Date: 07/03/09 Time: 1620hrs Location: 15 Lyncrest Rd, ( Cortlandt Manor) Frequency: Mohegan FD, FG 1 (Ops) Units Operating: Car 2264, 2267, Eng 258, Eng 255, Westchester County Haz-Mat, Health Department and Westchester County PD Bomb Squad Weather Conditions: Sunny/ Warm Description Of Incident: On Fri. 7/3/09 at 4:20pm, Lake Mohegan Fire responded to investigate a possible HAZMAT situation at 15 Lyncrest Rd in Cortlandt. 60 Control advised responding units that the homeowner found a small acid bottle inside of a residence while cleaning. Upon arrival of units, the homeowner told units that he found an old picric acid bottle inside the basement. Due to this type of incident, the Westchester County HAZMAT Team and Health Dept. were requested to the scene. Engine 258 secured a safe position near the residence, while Engine 255 stoodby a hydrant. 69B3 also responded to set up rehab. Fire-Police responded and shut off the street to civilians and civilian vehicles. Once the HAZMAT Coordinator arrived, it was deemed that there was a high potential for explosion. The residents next door were then immediately asked to evacuate and members staged even further from the incident. At the request of the HAZMAT Team, the Westchester County Police Bomb Squad was then requested to the scene to remove the bottle from the house. The bottle had the explosive power of up to 12 sticks of dynamite. Once the Bomb Squad arrived, the bottle was removed and taken by The Bomb Squad's containment truck to an undisclosed location for detonation. All members cleared the scene at 7:15pm. 6. If I take this in CT how hard will it be to transfer my CERT to NY, I know I need the HV, and NYC Mack but what about the certification itself
  7. State Police is the primary police department for the Town of Cortlandt with the exception of the 1 County Police Car ( 27C) during the day. Yorktown does not cover any of the town of cortlandt. Yorktown covers the Town of Yorktown ( Shrub oak, Half of Mohegan Lake, Jefferson Valley, Yorktown Heights, etc). Lexington Ave is the border with one half being Yorktown and one half being Cortlandt Manor.
  8. Car 2268 is the career fire captain and he has his own personal crown victoria. Car 2269 is the career LT, and he does not have his own personal vehicle. I believe 2260 is only deputy chiefs just to save on numbers , so when multiple DCs are on a scene they will often use their fire number to identify themselves( ex: DC 132 to DC 34). Deputy chiefs in Mohegan also are in between 2nd Asst chief and Captain in the rank structure.
  9. I liked it even though its obviously dramatized. Hopefully shows like this can help the image of police officers in some parts. Also speaking of third watch for those interested the second season of it is finally coming to DVD in July.

  17. In order to get hired with FDNY EMS you have to call them and put your name in ( it isn't civil service, in order to get civil service status with EMS its a different test entirely after you get hired). Then they'll call you and set up your physcial , background, psychological, and medical exams. After you complete all those ( which takes a few months) then you get hired. I put my name into the system last May and I'm waiting on my medical which will be in May Or June ( or so I'm told), Ive been in limbo with FDNY EMS since October when I went for my psych, since the hiring freezes went into effect.
