  3. "Police traced the call to the main Tarrytown firehouse at 50 Main St. John Hilken was arrested Thursday after admitting to Briarcliff police Detective Joseph Pugliese that he was the one who made the calls." :-k :-k :-k
  4. Pelham Palace on Wolfs Lane in Pelham (duh) and Golden Fountain (I think that's the name) on Yonkers Ave right near Bronx River Road. The first one is a little pricey though.
  5. 154.145 is dispatch.
  6. Well seeing as how it is that time of year when it is starting to get nice again, I thought I would pose a question. What departments have a Marine unit? What is the staffing on the boat? What kind of Boat? What gear does it carry? What sort of training do you need to work on the boat? Etc... Any info would be appreciated. Thanx.
  7. This will be for 10-15 people but you can increase it, just make sure the pot is big enough! Ok, for the gravy you need: 2-3 cans of tomato sauce. (I like hunts but use what you like.) 2-3 cans of tomato paste. 1 onion, 1 clove of fresh garlic. Olive oil, and assorted spices. Meat of choice. A big pot! Coat the bottom of the pot with olive oil (not too much), get it hot and simmer as much onion and garlic as you like. When it starts to get a little brown add sauce and paste. Stir Well. Add one sauce can of water (more if you like it thin) and bring to a boil. Add spices (salt, pepper, etc...whatever floats your boat), reduce heat to a simmer. Let simmer for at least 1 hour (all through the process keep stirring...Don't let it stick!). For the Meatballs: 1-2 pounds of chop meat (lean). breadcumbs 3-5 eggs salt, pepper, parsley, and maybe some oregano *raisins and nuts if you want, but not for me. Mix all of the above in a large bowl, use your hands not a mixer or anything, but please make sure they are clean!! If you keep your hands slightly moist throughout the meatball process it will allow you to make the balls without them sticking to you and breaking. Add the breadcrumbs last as you want to put only what you need to add consistency. Once you've made a mountain of meatballs, take the sausage out of the fridge and take out your frying pan. Use olive oil and fry up the meatballs until golden brown. Don't worry if they don't cook 100% because they will cook more in the gravy. Now the sausage is a different story. Fry them untill they are cooked through. If you want to add other meat to this recipe now is the time. Ok so your gravy has been simmering for an hour or so now and you have a plate or two full of meat. Well add the meat to the gravy and stir it well. Let simmer for another hour or two. Boil up a few pounds of pasta and there you go. Make sure you have some fresh grated cheese on the table and enjoy!! ps: For Fra Diablo  add some red pepper and have line stretched and ready!!

Since that's the direction the latest posts seem to be taking, I'll ask for my post to be moved there. What do you think ?" Ok so here it is. What is the county response plan? What do people feel the proper response should be (if the current plan is deemed unacceptable)? Plans for difficult terrain? Streching long distance? Specialized equipment?? Off road appartatus.....ETC?? Also, Who's in command? What is the EMS plan? What do the local hospitals do to prepare?
  10. I don't know if this should be in fire rescue or here so if you guy's wanna move it feel free ( yea I know like I really had to say that). Who goes on a auto lockout? (just a regular "damn, there go my keys right there on the dash #-o " no extraordinary circumstances) I have noticed over the past few year less and less PD and FD's will open your car for you. And why wouldn't you ?
  11. Man your comments never cease to amaze me!!
  12. http://fdnewyork.com/ Many may know this site. A FDNY dispatcher has put up some of his stories from over the years, and other random info.
  13. As we all know there has been a lot in the news lately about the Freedom Tower. Just wondering what people thought about the it, and whether or not it is the right thing for the Trade Center site.
  14. Congrats and best wishes!! =D> =D>
  15. ](*,) ](*,) Thats not the point!! We have had plenty of manpower discussions on this board, TRUST ME. This is not the thread for that. This is the "I'm gonna have some fun and BS with my fellow EMTBRAVO members about the rigs we like" thread. If you wanna talk manpower go to a different thread. But the issue has kind been talked (typed) into the ground in recent weeks. Lets wait two months and then we can all go at it again. OK? Thanx. 8)
  16. This from today's New York Post. Prayers are with FF Herbert and his family.
  17. Hey wait a minute. Darts is a sport. You could even say it is a contact sport they way some people play!
  18. Boston will never win again.................I hope!!! LOL
  19. Hey easy guys. This thread is for fun right? 8)
  20. Well it's more love-hate if ya know what I mean. Anyone else getting real tired of Nextel and their dropped calls. Maybe it's just a southern Westchester thing but lately you will dial a number, it will ring (if your lucky), and then dead air. Well not totally dead. Through some thorough testing of the situation I've found that digital signals come through but not analog; or at least I think :-k that is the case. You see, if you get the problem I am talking about and you hit a touch-tone on your cell it will go through to the other end. But if you talk into either end or hit the touch-tone on the landline side, nothing. Zip. Zilch. This coupled with the usual dropped calls, and sh**ty customer service is really starting to get me PO'ed. Just wanted to know if others had the same problems and what they thought of Nextel in general. When it works right I love it but when it does this crap I wanna :chainsaw: . Ok I'm done thanx for reading my BS.
  21. In another thread (http://emtbravo.just5buckshosting.com/phpB...opic.php?t=4511) it was said that the Coast Guard can take 30-40 minutes to respond to a call for help. If it takes that long to respond to a known emergency(fire, taking on water, etc), what about a vessel that is coming from international waters that won't respond on the radio and doesn't belong? What if that vessel is a floating bomb? Or what if they are trying to smuggle some terror cell into the country? Are the local PD and FD boats supposed to handle it? Cause that is what it seems will be the only government agencies available to respond swiftly! Now, I have no knowledge of how this stuff works on the water, but you always hear about dock security and border security at checkpoints along Mexico and Canada. To be honest I would be more worried about that group of guys on the little boat coming into the harbor where nobody is looking. Unloading thier little bombs and taking a cab to the city or wherever. I guess what I'm trying to get at is why don't we have more Coast Guard boats on patrol along all of our coast lines? You always see the coast gaurd in Florida but why not the northeast? I don't know, just asking.
  22. Thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this tragic incident.
  23. Don't think this is the reason. Nextel is IDEN, and Sprint is CDMA I belive. Those two networks can not be combined. The "word on the street" is they will be putting out phones that can work on both instead of trying to combine the different technologies. Any Nextel tech employees out there??
  24. Your not alone. I don't get it completely either....but then again I don't get alot of things. (well not right away anyway)
