  1. It is my understanding that the UFA prohibition is against FF's volunteering for departments where the volunteer organization would be considered a direct competitor to that members specific UFA local.... ie a FDNY member would be prohibited from volunteering at Richmond, Oceanic, Gerritson Beach, Point Breeze, etc as they directly compete with Local 94. But a FDNY member volunteering for TOR in Stamford does not directly compete with that members local thus it is permissible. Perfect example is all the DCFD members who are vollies in PG, Anne Arundle, Montgomory, Fairfax, and Louden counties.
  2. That is the former E145. To my knowledge there has only been one E146 and its still in service.
  3. When I restored the General Ike (B85F 1242) from my old college department in Gettysburg, I requested information from the Mack museum about Millwood's B95 as well. The truck resides today in Circleville, and I'm not sure if I can ever get it back, but I intend (when finances permit) to approach the gentleman up there about purchasing it with the intent to restore and donate back to MFC.... In the meantime here are some photos for all of us who fondly remember the original Millwood Engine 5 or in County DES terms E-245... I responded to my very first alarm as a FF on this rig to a Yorktown job tucked deep into a small cutout of the Millwood Fire District on near the intersection of Adams and Possum off Pinesbridge Road. T-15 doesn't have an ounce of the class that this old Mack has.... Built entirely at the Mack facility in Allentown, PA (some trucks had bodies and chassis manufactured in separate facilities) with a construction date of 1-31-1959 and a delivery date of 3-26-1959 it was a very progressive rig for it's day (not surprising though as MFC has always been a progressive albeit small department). With a 1500 gal tank, lots of enclosed storage (including the preconnects, hard tubes, and pike poles being covered on the hose bed) enclosed seating for 5ff's, and an early version of a pre-piped foam eductor it was one hell of a rig. It is one of only two tandem axle Mack B model fire trucks made by the factory. The other was delivered in June of the same year to Gallery Chemical Co. near Pittsburgh, PA as B95FSW 1161. Enjoy the photos snapped shortly after delivery..... Photo Credit: Mack Museum - Allentown, PA
  4. Where does it say that it was an MI6 Helo.... It went down not far from MI6 headquarters but I've seen nothing to indicate it was a clandestine aircraft... Seems to be a plain AW109.
  5. Quint also needs (if I recall) 85 feet of ground ladders and a t least 800 ft of supply hose
  6. Pumped it out.... Tank to pump... Pump to discharges... A little slow but it worked before all the big dog tankers in service today!
  7. Jeep is in a family garage... I was referencing the Mack being in Andy's collection
  8. I was under the impression that Andy Leider had it??? Maybe Angelo knows and will opine....
  9. Gerry - Were you Chief during the Bethea Drive fire on that snowy night in '93 or '94? Rode on it to that job too. The Jeep with the trailer, as far as I know are still owned by Tony & Richie Polcari and aren't too far north in Putnam County. Last I saw of the Jeep it was complete but unrestored.
  10. I think the term "working fire" has been overused as of late.... A structure fire is a generalized even to describe a fire at a structure... it could be oven, room and contents, chimney, OR working.... A working fire is one that is best described as a fire that is progressing beyond the point of ignition to involve other parts of the structure, rooms, etc.... One room off is not a working fire... a kitchen fire with extention to the floor above is a working fire.... JMHO
  11. Historically, I have requested a separate fill site for tankers that present unique filling, or extended filling times. If the large tankers can unload water at the same rate as the standard size ones, there is no reason IMHO to take then out of the loop... Just have them fill elsewhere. If they cannot unload at the same rate, when they are done nursing, have them refill and standby in the event that the water shuttle breaks down and they have to nurse again.
  12. Tankers engines ambulances rescues.... Speed is the issue regardless of apparatus type. AND as a tiller, with the tiller man steering into the turn, much of the lateral inertia that initiated the roll was mitigated... Had this been a straight job or tower, it probably would have gone over twice!!!
  13. A catch 22 for sure, but I developed my opinion after more bad experiences than good with family members in the box. When a child, spouse, or parent code in front of a family member it becomes more than difficult to work in 60 sf. Forget it when there is an unknown volatile history between the two, or when the pre hospital report is given and the passenger reacts with "that a&&hole did what... I'm gonna..." Passengers in the front.... Very few exceptions in my mind...
  14. That would be a Roto-Ray. You either lovem' or hatem'
  15. Terrible accident... Family members should not be riding in the box. They should be in the front seat, belted, under the supervision of the chauffeur.
  16. As previouslly discussed on this site in the archived thread below, the General Ike has finally been completed and delivered to Florida as of yesterday. The biggest delay was finding the proper set of hose reels to replace the retro-fitted crosslays above the pump panel. A proper pair was located, restored and mounted. The 6v53 fired up on the first try, and around the block we went. Hoping to put some miles on this weekend. More pics to follow... http://www.emtbravo....ack-b-85f-1242/
  17. About 6 standard single axle utility bucket trucks
  18. Not a C-130... Its a C-17 Globemaster III...
  19. City of Winter Park just got a new tiller. If I get around to it this weekend, I'll grab a picture of it. 2012 Pierce Quantum 100ft replacing the tower.
  20. 38ff not sure where you are from, but there isn't a paid/combo tanker within 30 miles of Yonkers. YFD did what they needed which was request assets through 60 control and that's it. Based on current calls 60 control dispatched the appropriate rigs (*)
  21. How many Coors Light tall boys does the bambi bucket hold?
  22. Just breaking... He appeared to pass from complications following recent heart surgery. RIP (*)
