  1. Great photo EFDCAPT115! Makes me happy to be standing 6 ft. 5! I have a hydrant directly across from my driveway that I often shovel out. Sometimes in the winter I will keep a small shovel in my car and when I see a hydrant that is obstructed by snow and I'll shovel it. Plus, more open access to hydrants = less dogs (or humans) urinating on the sidewalk!
  2. Great job by 60-Control. I am away at school but I listened to the storm both days on Scan 60 and Radioreference. Great job with handling the rush off calls.
  3. Great looking rig. Interesting to see a Rescue without the large bumper. Where is the winch? Best of luck with it.
  4. I heard on the street that the lady who had the heart attack was not the driver. Her husband was actually driving her to Phelps for work.

  6. Thoughts and Prayers for the trooper and all others involved and their families. Have a speedy recovery! It is a shame that 95% of people in Westchester County do not know how to drive in the winter. I think everyone should have to spend a winter in upstate NY in the snow belt. You will learn real fast what you can and can't do.
  7. Great job to the 60-Control dispatchers!
  8. It has been brought to my attention that Briarcliff did get a bus on the road right after the call came in. Their other bus was out on another run. for some reason I was unable to edit this info in the IA so I figured I correct it here. MODERATOR NOTE: IA updated by jack10562 Thanks.
  9. Hi, I posted the IA you are referring to. Just to clarify, I am not 100% sure if they transported in the PD Tahoe. It is my understanding that the tractor trailer was blocking the roadway and CPR was continued in the Tahoe. Not sure if transported was done with it, but I am pretty sure some was at least until they could intercept with the ambulance. Don't quote me on any of this though. From what I heard over the scanner, PD reported that a bus could not get to the patient and CPR was being continued in the back of the PD Tahoe. Once again don't quote me on that.

  11. You can also become a mutual aid member. This is common among college students who ride at home and also with the department near their school.
  12. I know some of the guys at TCD. They do great work! Looks like another great line of TCD vehicles.
  13. Thanks for posting the pics!
  14. They better get it before the rapidly approaching parade season!
  15. Like Westchester County Collapse. Thanks for the pics!
  16. Excellent post! One thing that I am a fan of is to carry a can of shaving cream on all apparatus that have extrication equipment. In particular equipment for removing windshields and rear windows. When removing the window with a saw, a lot of dust is created, this dust can affect both the firefighter and the victim in the car. If you spray shaving cream around the windshield where you are going to cut and then cut through the shaving cream with the saw, a lot of the dust will get caught in the shaving cream. Easy fix for what, a $1.50.
  17. Student was found dead and students mother was found unconscious in the students housing.
  18. Awesome looking tanker. Huge fan of the Spartan two door cab! I do not think anyone will miss the rig from behind. The Seagrave looks great as well!
  19. Great pictures. Looks like a great stop by Yonkers FD. Very nice job by the ladder operators!
  20. Maybe this is a stupid question but what is kept on the Urban Search and Rescue truck? Seems pretty large for Search and Rescue. Does this truck respond to all fires or all alarms?
  21. Great looking rig. Look forward to the wetdown. Hope to see it in action soon!
  22. Very sad to hear. One of those things that can happen any call. Condolences to the family.
  23. Just curious as to how nearby EMS agencies are staffed. Who takes calls during the day/night?
  24. RIP firefighter Koesar. My condolences to his family and his department.
  25. I know that In CT, Westport FD bills non-residents for MV fires/accidents. I am not sure of the total but I know you will get a bill if they come to you and your a non resident. Also, in Pleasantville, the Fd is supposed to bill for false alarm repeaters. It is my understanding that this policy is very relaxed and not often enforced, but when it is, the town receives the money. The FD never gets it...probably why we do not care to charge repeaters. Billing people for structure fires seems slightly wrong.
