  2. You can also become a mutual aid member. This is common among college students who ride at home and also with the department near their school.
  3. I know some of the guys at TCD. They do great work! Looks like another great line of TCD vehicles.
  4. Thanks for posting the pics!
  5. They better get it before the rapidly approaching parade season!
  6. Like Westchester County Collapse. Thanks for the pics!
  7. Excellent post! One thing that I am a fan of is to carry a can of shaving cream on all apparatus that have extrication equipment. In particular equipment for removing windshields and rear windows. When removing the window with a saw, a lot of dust is created, this dust can affect both the firefighter and the victim in the car. If you spray shaving cream around the windshield where you are going to cut and then cut through the shaving cream with the saw, a lot of the dust will get caught in the shaving cream. Easy fix for what, a $1.50.
  8. Student was found dead and students mother was found unconscious in the students housing.
  9. Awesome looking tanker. Huge fan of the Spartan two door cab! I do not think anyone will miss the rig from behind. The Seagrave looks great as well!
  10. Great pictures. Looks like a great stop by Yonkers FD. Very nice job by the ladder operators!
  11. Maybe this is a stupid question but what is kept on the Urban Search and Rescue truck? Seems pretty large for Search and Rescue. Does this truck respond to all fires or all alarms?
  12. Great looking rig. Look forward to the wetdown. Hope to see it in action soon!
  13. Very sad to hear. One of those things that can happen any call. Condolences to the family.
  14. Just curious as to how nearby EMS agencies are staffed. Who takes calls during the day/night?
  15. RIP firefighter Koesar. My condolences to his family and his department.
  16. I know that In CT, Westport FD bills non-residents for MV fires/accidents. I am not sure of the total but I know you will get a bill if they come to you and your a non resident. Also, in Pleasantville, the Fd is supposed to bill for false alarm repeaters. It is my understanding that this policy is very relaxed and not often enforced, but when it is, the town receives the money. The FD never gets it...probably why we do not care to charge repeaters. Billing people for structure fires seems slightly wrong.
  17. I do not think it is appropriate for the pictures to be shown on news websites and on TV. I think it is quite disrespectful to Nodar Kumaritashvili. Part of respecting the dead is not allowing the press to see the dead. I just think it is sick that the press was able to get such graphic pictures of such a horrific accident that left a 21 y/o dead.
  18. Does anyone want to take a stab at why my O/P was edited and the link was removed by someone other than myself? I bet I know...
  19. It seems to me like Chris192 is choosing what people can and can not watch. I did not tell anyone what they can and can not watch. I just posted a link to something that I did not think should be shown publicly which allowed people who WANT to to watch it and then form their own opinion. Is removing a link by any chances deciding what people can and can not watch?
  20. Perhaps pictures of your 21 year old son/daughter getting worked by EMS workers? I'm sure no one wants to watch that or have others watch it right? but maybe you do...
  21. MY reasoning was simple. If you post something have the evidence. It will then appeal to more people. Maybe some people did not know what I was referring to...through the link they can find out and decide their own opinion. So maybe you did not understand my reason for having the link. Also to a lot of people on this site the pictures would not even begin to effect them nor would they care so it does not matter if there is the link.
  22. I agree with that.
  23. I do not know is his father was there. I know that when they announced the tragedy, they did not name him because his family had not been notified. I believe that if his dad was there he would have been notified prior to the press release...who knows. Either way for some odd reason they have decided to not show it any more...must have been seen as inappropriate at by NBC.
  24. It is ironic...guess it needs to be edited again!
  25. RAZ, wouldn't an edited post make for a better thread. I mean a fixed a spelling error others may fix grammatical errors. I know you completed at least 10th grade(state law?)...didn't your papers and homework get better grades when they were edited after the first draft??? This almost pertains to EMS call coverage...
