  2. The new Arena for the Brooklyn Nets look awesome. It amazes me how intricate and how awesome those Ironworkers work!
  3. I know around here the Fire Departments are called for assistance. I think that is a fairly common all around and probably the most logical...
  4. Date: 05/06/12 Time: 5:00 PM Location: Mohawk River in Cohoes Frequency: Town of Colonie 800Mhz P25 and Saratoga County 800Mhz P25 Units Operating: Boght FD, Verdoy FD, West Crescent FD, Niskayuna FD 2, Colonie PD, Colonie EMS. Weather Conditions: Partly Cloudy, little wind, warm temperature. Description Of Incident: One pontoon boat stuck on sandbar close to NY Power Authority Dam. Both Verdoy Boat 11, Boght Boat 1, and West Crescent Boat responded to scene to check passenger status and to secure boat. Due to shallow waters both departments put in use smaller boats and requested Niskayuna's airboat to rescue passengers and bring to shore. Boat was eventually pulled from sandbar and brought to local marina. All apparatus returned to service. Reporters: Andrew Witkowski
  5. President is now going to the Nano College at the University of Albany. The change is do to Global Foundries still being under construction and not have enough address room for a speech, also becuase UAlbany is 10 minutes away and not 25-30 minutes. Air Force 1 lands at Albany international Airport and usually sits close towards the South end of the runway by the hangers. Usually ahead of time support aircraft, mainly a C-17 Globemaster III will arrive and unload. Sometimes he relocates to another airport or he rests on the East Runway. By the way, Air Force 1 usually uses the entire runway and it is quit the sight to see land!
  6. I'm guessing morning. But best bet to stay away from Northway
  7. Obama will be making another trip to the Capital Region again. This time visiting Global Foundries in Malta. The expected visit will on Tuesday.
  8. I have seen Indianapolis with a roll-off POD too. We had a French couple stop by our firehouse a couple years who were firefighters in France. We gave them a tour and at the end we exchanged fire helmets and snapped a couple pictures, great guys! Firefighting is really different over there and gear as well, especially how simple and more advanced their SCBA is. Most firefighters I have seen in France where their fire boots pretty much all the time rather it's the traditional slip on's or the wildfire type zip up's.
  9. Mark Gottenberg 3449 Route 32 Saugerties, NY 12477 845-246-4344 That's who I got my truck from, he sometimes sells on Ebay. Also if you ever need a part from him he is usually cheap, but sometimes you would have to go get it yourself in the yard. There is also a dealership in Athol, MA that sells a lot of used Gov't cars on Ebay and also has a website. http://www.usedpolicecars.com/
  10. The only thing I found in my car was a handcuff key, and the factory installed taillight flasher, lol
  11. Search police on Ebaymotors. Always good deals and nice cars, even the brand new Caprices and 2012 Chargers. I have an NYSP Tahoe and haven't had a problem with it other then routine ware and tare, I got it in Saugerties from a guy, he has a whole bunch of different cars.
  12. I'll take someone who knows what he's doing rather then someone who aces tests. It's like yea, on paper you know what your doing but could you apply that to actually doing it.... This is really interesting that the Justice Department is filing a lawsuit rather individuals with in the fire department itself.
  13. I was referring to a work shift when saying 36 hours not an entire week.
  14. I would just use a black garbage bag and some duct tape.
  15. It's basically a 36 or so hour shift... There is also a department up here that wears t-shirts, blue with yellow screenprinting for firefighters and gray with black screenprinting for lts. and capts. and chiefs wear their white button ups.
  16. Here the local municipality rarely contacts us, the only way we find out is the weekly announcements or we happen to see one while driving. We do know when they are flushing hydrants and where so it's easier to plan a response if a fire alarm is in that area because it's most likely a fluctuation in water pressure in the sprinkler system.
  17. http://www.fechheime...=111&ColorID=49 I think FDNY uses Flying Cross... I don't know about pants though, I have seen guys where all sorts of stuff, even saw one wearing jeans before.
  18. You can always ask them... If they do, make sure they run the water a little bit before they start filling, pretty sure the water will be pretty dirty.

  21. Yea, I'm seeing more and more unmarked Tahoes these days. I think before the state had some very strict rules regarding the use of unmarked vehicles for patrol use but that is slowly going away...
