I love the outer banks. I've been vacationing there since I was a little kind. I am also an avid collector of the duck shirts. Everytime I wear one I get asked if duck is a real place lol. My department recently purchased southern shores old brush truck ( brush 12 I believe). I will snap some pics and post them and try to show our before and after.

Rest in peace and safe travels brother. The nypost article said his dream was to be a firefighter. I hope FDNY makes him a firefighter in his honor.

Why so much hate for the cops on this board? I can never understand it. These guys were asked to help out by THE FIRE CHIEF and they're still wrong in the eyes of some. It's almost like some guys would rather see the structure burned to the ground before they see PD being cast in a postitive light for helping out when REQUESTED by the fire chief.
Maybe, just maybe if that particular fire district was squared away, the cops wouldn't have to be doing their jobs.
I agree. I don't see why people can't accept the fact that these brothers were asked to help and agreed without hesitation. I applaud their efforts. Rural companies need all we can get from who ever is around.

Ive worked with DPW guys who said if they were working near by and we needed help they would gladly help us out. That said straight to my face " WE will run the trucks for you because we HAVE your old trucks, WE know how to run the pumps" and if I was the OIC and they showed up and asked, Id say go for it. Congrats to those troopers for what they did.

DOT does roadwork obviously. But they do highway mowing, bridge work etc. You can get hired with a class d license but they require a minimum of a class b. You can range from a "grunt" (no offense to any DPW workers) to a truck driver to a machine operator. You can also be a shop mechanic. Hours depend on whats going on and I believe what shop you located out of. Normal schedule is 6 to 230 I believe. I know someone who works out of the DOT shop in Boicevlle in Ulster and if I remember correctly once daylight savings starts they go to a four ten work week with fridays off. Not sure if that's statewide. I would assume a lateral to another location would be easy.
