  1. Seriously, isn't there a rule against cliff hangers or something!
  2. I'm not familiar with the place that the fire was in, but I was told that it had been closed for a while. Is this the case?

  4. Thats amazing, I only wish that everyone in this world was that caring. Having had a cousin who died of muscular dystrophy, I know how special this must have been for the entire family. Kudos to all the police officers and firefighters who did this amazing deed.
  5. Whats being done with the old truck, looks to be in great condition from the exterior pics.
  6. If only that would work. I know that area of the woods amazingly well, as I've been biking and hiking in there since middle school. The inclines would be impassible by any vehicle, plus there are large rock outcrops throughout the forrest. Also, in multiple places along the paths that are cut, there are huge stone steps that are nearly impossible to take on a mountain bike (as I once went head first over my handlebars going down them...) so I could only imagine trying on a larger vehicle.
  7. If I'm correct it went out of service last year after the new 75 was fully in commision
  8. Rye FD just got a hybrid Ford Escape as the new fire inspector's vehicle
  9. That's cause for life in prison in the NYC law code right?
  10. This might be a stupid question. But do you need the computer to sleep every time you close it? If not, that is also something you can disable.
  11. I passed it while on a bus when I was down there last month, but didn't have time to get out my camera.
  12. Is that the department with the cool hose and hydrant fountain on the front of their house?
  13. I completely agree. We all do the same job, and yes some of us get paid for it and thats awesome; but there is no reason to fight over that.
  14. 87%....the year I was born and my HS GPA...the number haunts me
  15. Click here for Pictures!! At the Innovention attraction at Epcot they have a engine set up with plexiglass over the compartments on the driver's side so you can see the contents and a few frames of patches on the other side. The engine is along side their fire safety demonstration. There is a computer next to the truck with database of all the departments who have sent in patches, and they rotate the patches weekly. There are forms to fill out in order to get your patch in the rotation. They need the department name, adress, phone number, chiefs name, alternate phone and contact info, year department established, number of men, women and volunteers in the department, the town(s) in the response area, population of those towns, avg calls per week, any awards the department has, name of the person sending the patch, title, and contact info. Send all this and 1 patch to Innoventions at Epcot P.O. Box 10,000 1400 Ave of the Stars Innov E, 2nd Floor, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830
  16. Photos A 2007 Sutphen 95' Platform Delivered in September 2007
  17. I was watching How Its Made on Discovery and they were doing turnout coats. The coat they made had a zipper then velcro, snaps, and hooks to fasten the front. I found this to be a bit overkill. Any coat I've ever had had two out of the four of these in some combination. I couldn't imagine the need for all four. What do you guys think? p.s. This might be the wrong forum for this, I dunno....
  18. Just to add. As I mentioned in the fall, and as you can see in the photos; the ladder is in the last bay in station 1 of Auburn. It is the only bay in that house that can fit the truck. However, this makes turning right out of the station a bit tricky. Also, after turning either way out of the station, the streets are very narrow. There has been some questions voiced by people in the area as to the stationing of the truck. The only buildings in its given response area that need a tower are on campus, the rest is residential. This ladder replaced ladder 2, a 75' quint at station 1, ladder two was moved to the brand new station 5 which is in a heavily industrialized area with factories and corporate hq's and the like. So this has brought people to wonder why the tower was placed downtown instead of in the industrial area; since if there was to be a fire on campus it would be on scene anyway. But I assume they have their reasons and they are good ones.
  19. RIP, my thoughts and prayers are with your family and my brothers at NWPFD
  20. I was at Dick's Sporting Goods today and something caught my eye. On the packages of Maxfli's Fire brand golf balls there is a sticker that says "Sponsor of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation." I thought this was pretty cool, and needless to say, I got myself a box.
  21. The Shaq commercial was one of my personal favorites.
