  1. Rye's Utility 39 is basically a light truck/generator with a lot of storage.
  2. I may be able to let you know about how other departments handle it within a few weeks..I am joining the Southwest FD in Loachapoka Alabama..

  6. sometimes its just a tradition thing to use em..Rye would, but there are technical problems with it..and its to a certain time because neighbors tend to complain when it goes off at 1am.
  7. It is very true that the volunteer numbers are no where near sufficient. And the paid firefighters do a great job. The only problem comes when the paid guys, who are trained on the rigs are inside, and the rigs have to be operated by the inexperienced volunteers. Im not placing blame on either the paid guys or the volunteers, because in department, things have been done to correct this, however it is at the county training level that I have failed to see many beggining operators classes..i may be wrong, if so correct me
  8. I know, that with Ossining at least, Port Chester has a history. The temporary replacement for the ladder was from ossining, and Port Chester went all the way to Ossining during the summer for the FD funeral.
  9. Yea, we call them Pike Poles for the long ones, but the short ones we tend to call closet "hooks"
  10. The Rye/Port Chester Explorer Post 700 has an antique hose cart that is housed in Port Chester. That is the only thing.
