  1. Sorry for not posting here till now as I've been following the news about Sam on FB for several days. I worked with Sam at both MetroCare and OVAC.he is a great guy and an excellent medic and always gives 1000%. Just put the following on my FB page and I'm putting it here also:

Glad to hear that Sam is improving a bit. Keep fighting Sam. As always Sam's family as well as OVAC and any everyone else connected with him are on my mind and in my prayers...

As someone else posted - Sam is always there for others now it's time we are all there for him

  3. Hey Guys,

I wanted to share this with you. I never had the pleasure to work with Jon, but several of my friends and co-workers did. The loss is very sad in itself, However, his family could really use some help. I wanted to forward this to you all as I know we all stick together especially in times like this. I'm not sure if VEMS is planning anything else, but I do know Bob Petinella and he is very approachable. So if you guys can pass this on and around I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    Joe

  4. So let me get this straight - a crew from tarrytown responds to a crash or a jumper on the tappan zee and they have to pay for the honor of responding? how about the state issue easy passes and just doesnt charge them period? what a joke. If this is a miscommunication, maybe thruway should send out a corrected letter. While I don't advocate gate crashing, I most definitely DO NOT advocate delaying patient care, transport, etc

  5. Hey Guys

You may recognize Sara Jones from one of the prior America's Female Firefighters Calendars. That said, she's in a pretty rough time and has cancer pretty bad. They are trying to get her to a special treatment center in Houston. I donated today although not a lot because of the comp issue, I still gave something. She can really use every bit of help she can get. Here's her story, etc. I'm not running this, her family and friends are. I'm sure that she'd say thanks as I am saying thanks also for any help any of you guys can give her.

    Thanks,

    Joe

Seth and Mods, if you want to move or remove, sorry but I just felt it would be right to help her as she is a sister in public safety.

  6. I will say the same. Thank you to those who serve both here and abroad. I myself am kind of bent that we will have a parade for a sports team (not against it) but no for those returning from service in iraq and afghanistan. I read a statement from a u.s. rep in a magazine article months ago saying it woul send the wrong message. REALLY? and how's that?

  7. Phil,

I've been following this story since I learned about it and now with the arrest, it doesn't look good. The reports I read said the cops were in the house with the suspect for about 4 hours prior to bringing him out cuffed. I also saw another report that the game warden came with a snowmobile and a map of the area and that the cops pointed out to an area and were heard saying too shallow doesn't match While I hope things work out, I have to say it really doesn't look like it's going to. If this guy did indeed kill the firefighter, I hope he has at least one shred of decency left in him and gives up where his body is so that the family as well as his brothers and sisters in Florida can get some closure. From other articles I read it looks like the cops located the suspect and his girlfriend here in CT over the weekend and interviewed them here. My guess is that they lead the kid to believe he wasn't a suspect and that the kid returned back to Maine thinking he was good and then the cops pounced. Saved them from extraditing him which was pretty slick and may even speed up finding this firefighter. Overall though it's a pretty sad story and I feel sorry for all involved especially the firefighters wife and kids and his co-workers

PS- I was hoping for a happy ending to this when I posted originally

Investigators conducted a raid at an ambulance company in East- Central El Paso in connection with alleged fraud, officials said.

On Thursday the FBI and the Texas State attorney general's office inspected the offices of Dominion Ambulance, 6585 Montana. An official close to the investigation said they are looking into an alleged massive ambulance service-related fraud.
