  1. you can take the test regardless of your in county or out of county status. however once the results are out and the FPAT ( Dutchess county's version of the CPAT) has been taken, the county list is created and ranking begins. The only time residency matters is when a department is going to hire. At that time the department has the option to go right to the county list right off the bat, or have the counties list broken up into only canidates who reside in their district. once the department goes to the residency list, they have to exhaust that list before they can go back to or change to the county list again.

  6. Has anyone on here ever paid for, and gone to the state fire academy before being hired? I've heard of a hand full of instances where this has happened around here where volunteer depts. will host / sponsor a member to go. However the member pays the expense. People who do this are then supposedly given preference over others when canvassed, because they now already have the needed training, thus saving the hiring department from having to pay for the academy as well as pay the individual. If by chance anyone on here has done this or heard of it; how did it, if at all, work out?
  7. Sorry to reply so late, but I've been with Transcare Hudson Valley Division since '07 and actually love it. like stated above, its the lazy people, or those who like to cut corners and that kind of thing, that generally complain or dislike Transcare. Some administartion practices can be a little hard to understand, but thats all the politics side of things. But the job itself. is pretty decent.
  8. Haven't heard much, but Transcare has like 6 different paint schemes so who knows. Usually they change by the contract/region.
  9. Outta look interesting all green and silver come August.
