Ha! i have no desire to do this for a living, i'm in the marketing field...thanks. i am a vollie bacuase i do it for the sole fact that someone has to do it...but the ambulances that take 10, 15, 20, 30, or 45 minutes to just GET OUT THE DOOR are pathetic!! how do i propose this tax increase to invest in our own health and the well being of our families, friends and homes...baby steps. one department at a time. Yes we are in a recession, but if you know anything about investing - you buy into it when it looks bad. Tell me why it takes 100 vollie firefighters to put out a fire when it takes usually 25-30 paid guys to do the same? Why do you think this is? seriously, i'd like someone to elaborate on this - if both paid and vollie FF's have a job to do why then can only the paid guys do it effectively and efficently? the vollie world pisses so much money away it's friggin disgusting! how about vollies trim the fat off their budgets and actually get some respectable volunteers who are well trained and actually physically fit to do the job. i can't stand when i'm at a fire scene and i gotta take an overweight out of shape 55 year old firefighter to the hospital because he can't breathe or has chest pains...and asks to smoke a cigg before we load him in the ambulance! The vollie system is not good, plain and simple. There are better systems out there, but vollies are too damn stubborn, egotistical or just plain dumb to learn and implment a new system. Thats why we need to get rid of them and get better educated and better trained and experianced people...not just the people that happen to see a banner hanging in the streets (no pun to the original poster, few good guys come from this, i hope you would be one of them)
  3. somewhat true about the millions - take away what the vollies don't need - beer, soda, fat foods, parties, hard booze and INVEST that money to a paid system and it might work. in my town, there was a study that if taxes went up just $40 per household, paid departments can exist. $40 to ensure that God Forbid you need and ambulance or the fire dept, you know you'd be getting a better quality service. it really is an investment. You'll have fit ems workers, fit firefighters and better yet compitent people!!!! I don't see how any compitent individual could vote against this...
  4. Get rid of the Vollie systems all together...EMS should be run by hospitals and FD/PD's should be run by the municipalities - whether local, county or state is another topic though. I am a vollie and i can't stand vollies or the vollie system, it only exists to fail, not to mention vollies are NOT true volunteers anymore - they are PAID labor. They get paid with little pensions, stipens and beer. Not to mention they're fat and out of shape drunks. it's very sad to see what a good concept of Americana has become. I am a Vollie that is 100% pro Paid guys - they really are simply put - BETTER.
  5. i was thinking the same thing...very stupid... when i was in a particular fire dept, we took one engine and one ladder to the mamaroneck parade (i think 2002), anyways both rigs were full, there were 2 people that couldn't fit in the rigs, so the officers allowed them to be seated ON the rig...on the hose bed that is... we didn't take local roads either, we took I287, to I95 to Mamaroneck Ave...i think my exapmple tops this pic. it was a very sad day to see officers allow this behavior... (These weren't officers that were in their 20's - which are sadly more common today. these officers had 20+ years in the department)
  6. I'm not asking this to start anything, I just have a question regarding the duration of CPR and by whom the CPR was being done by. The post states: Just wondering who made the determination to stop CPR, if in fact CPR was actually started. I know the info on these posts are always what actually happens on scene.   10. unions were created because laws protecting workers didn't exist. they do now, therefore get rid of all unions...PD, FD, Teachers, and all others...get rid of them. you want to get benifits, higher wages, some extra vacation time...do what all other non-union Americans do: work hard and be a self advocate. Even unions that work for generally 'conservitive'workers (FD, PD, EMS, blue collared guys/gals) fund the Obama administration and therefore indirectly...so do the workers

  15. Just wondering if any LEO's on here would know how a firing squad works these days...are the shooters picked in some sort of awful lottery..what happens if they refuse? The article states that there will be "a team of five anonymous officers firing bullets into his heart." Do officers actually offer to provide this type of "service." I find this to be clearly contradictory and immoral to the profession, just as a paramedic (which is usually used) would be the one to push the lethal injections into a prisoner.   17. I know they're not from the Constitution, I think we all know what it says. The point is to understand how and why it came together, and that is something an individual can do on their own. Also I did not and do not judge people, it's a simply point that you youself made regarding the death penalty and religion. I have the highest respect for police officers, as all emergency workers. I have no problem with someone who happens to kill as a result of self defense. The death penalty is indeed defined as justice to some, but NOT for all. Ok, so I did get off topic for a bit, so back to the topic... So how do we say justice will be done when "5 officers" kill a man by shooting him in the heart, because he killed a man, when the man that was killed was a lawyer who was against the death penalty? That is not justice, Justice for the man killed would be to keep the killer in prison for life w/o the possibility of parol. That is justice for the deceased

  19. Yes I agree with you, but you're forgetting that the New Testament specifically negates all of those "eye for an eye" punishments. The Old Testament are old laws and the New Testament are the new laws and if you believe in Christianity then you cannot take a life no matter how you perceive it in your mind...your mind is not important enough to make the decision to take a life, yet we can detain those that do not fit the status quo of society. And as far as calling me a Liberal...I’m sorry to upset you, but I’m not. The most conservative thing any American can do is follow God’s laws FIRST, then follow our country’s laws SECOND. There is no way for contradiction if you live in that order. It is LITERALLY in the Constitution to do so and anyone that puts our Constitution first and God’s laws second is literally acting liberally. It is said that one cannot be a true conservative unless they understand this proper order and how this order has been so skewed over time by people just like “Crime Cop” a.k.a. the true and original Liberals. True Patriots do believe in the Constitution and more importantly believe that this great country is STILL one nation under God.

  23. once obama's immigration reform kicks in, illegals simply have to "admit to entering the country illegally. after that, they're citizens... every month a citizen does not have health coverage that citizen will be fined 1/12th the annual fee for not having health coverage. The Dems admit this fee will be saved in the event an illegal needs medical attention

  25. There things in this bill i like and things i dislike, especially on the issue of abortion. All in all i think Americans are over reacting. Medicare, Civil Rights and Social Security...all issues people were flipping out about when those bills were being passed... I'm not going to get into too much details about my feelings towards this bill, but i will say that health care reform was needed, but not everything is this bill i believe will HELP. As an ems volunteer and a non union employee speaking to many FF/LEO's and other UNIONIZED employees - youre unions are PROVEN to be far worse than this bill. If you are in a union, you do NOT have the right to speak against this bill as your UNION leaders have added input towards this bill. Every union in America has had consideration put into this bill and the majority of UNIONS financially "support" Obama and his Liberal friends. You want change in this Country, get your UNIONS out of the pockets of the Liberals. Most people on this website are NOT Liberal, yet their UNION fees support Liberals!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!
