  8. ALF back in its hey-day had 125' and 135', I want to say in the early 1950s they toyed with them but they never caught on. I think Chicago still has a 135' E-One ladder on their reserve roster too.

Yes, I believe Chicago has either one or two E-One 135' ladders in their reserve. I know one served as Aerial Tower 1 out of CFD Station # 1 in Downtown Chicago, but I'm not sure if the other ran as Aerial Tower 2 and where it was housed. Also, in 1961, Magirus made two seven-section 146' ladders to serve the FDNY. Both were mounted on 1961 Mack C85 chassis'. One served as Ladder 24(a.k.a. High Ladder 1), the other as Ladder 115. However, it soon became impractical, and in 1969, the Macks were refitted with 100' Grove ladders.

  13. Stratford had one

Yes, Stratford did have one. It ran out of Fire Station # 2(Company 2) on Huntington Rd. I believe it originally served as Engine 2 then as a spare(Engine 8 I believe), until it was taken out of service in the early 2000's. Here's a partial shot of it:

  15. I think the only tiller in the city now is at Ladder 3.

Yeah, that would be my guess too. The current Ladder 3 Seagrave tiller is pretty old. I just saw the new tiller on Crimson's website awhile back and it looks pretty good. It looks to me like the FDJC might be going for a Chicago-style black over red cab paint scheme. Good luck to the FDJC with it!

  16. do they sell patches in boston??

Some firehouses sell patches, like Engine 8 and Ladder 1's quarters in the North End, and I believe Engine 50 in Charlestown. Also, there is a booth in front of Quincy Market that sells BFD shirts and patches.

  18. Here's the link to Gowans-Knight Fire Apparatus' page on the New Waterbury, CT Rescue 9. The rig is a 2010 Spartan Gladiator LFD/Gowans-Knight Heavy-Duty 7 man cab Non-Walk-In Rescue that will replace a 1997 Seagrave/P&L Custom Heavy-Duty 2-man cab Walk-Around Rescue. Good luck to the WFD and I wish them the best of luck with their new rescue! In my opinion, it's a pretty cool rig!
