  1. Be careful what you wish for with the mini badges, I love the ones that flip it open when you get to the car as if they were OTJ! DRIVES ME NUTS! But, I dont want to be "that guy" either so I grin and bear it. Not worth getting into a "ticket war" with another jurisdiction over some retard with pba card etc., I just keep in the back of my head that it'll take me less than 5 minutes to get my next one and its not worth the hastle of writing a family member. "Friends" on the other hand are a different story. I make a lot of car stops and write a lot of tickets, of all the people who say they "know someone", Id say .1 out of 10, I get a phone call, the others I guess just didnt know them well enough.
  2. On the subject of professional courtesy towards ems/fire etc. If you get a break, please don't do the same exact thing a few weeks later at the same time so the same cop is in the same location! Puts us in a hard position when we stop you the second time and just shows your lack of respect and gratitude for that favor! Thanks
  3. Im looking to make up my own dept cars, looking for custom printed decals and more accessories than this site. Any ideas on where to go or where I could get prices on getting the whole car made by someone?
  4. once again, thats a few cops that scream. i have never had to yell at anyone to move anything, a simple ask is all ive ever needed. being a firefighter also i know both sides of the coin. i guess cops who dont do both may not understand the need of fd to shut down stuff. Ill shut down any road anytime if its required, but sometimes its not so we can open up some lanes. But my preference is close it completely, a two lane highway with FD operating in the right lane should not have traffic flowing in the left lane, i dont care how many flares you have out or how many lights you have on, youll always have some #@$## fly by! so close it all! and yes, i want EVERYONE to go home! what kind of world is this that cops have to lock up firefighters??? it sounds like in those situations (which are far and few between) there were two people with similar rock heads who wouldnt budge! but all in all, i think the majority of fd's and pd's work well together! And with a little bit of effort from us all we can continue and make the relationship better! stay safe!
  5. I dont get why it always has to be a "pissing" match. It seems like a FEW people had a FEW incidents with a FEW cops who broke chops. Dont crucify all of us, because we all arent like that. Fire Fighters dont like the stereotype of being "drunks" because a few got locked up in a dwi! I think if everyone worked together and set egos aside (easier said than done, i know) we'd be a lot safer and have a healthier working relationship. As far as "whos scene is it?", be careful what you wish for, you might not like what you all of a sudden "owned" And as an AI i certainly appreciate when the fire apparatus stand by for lighting and such. As 5SLOW stated, they are crime scenes and we have a lot of responsibility on them. So while we're on the subject, at a serious MVA please: Refrain from speedy dry until the scene has been measured etc. If needed, ie. at a storm drain, maybe dam that up Dont kick anything thats on the ground And please dont bring me the headlight from the side of the road and ask me if i need it! Stay safe!
  6. This applies to the court process. The trooper acts as the prosecutor and offers "pleas" to lesser offenses, this disposes of tickets in a timely fashion and doesnt tie up the court with trials. Normally local prosecutors or ADAs do it but historically Troopers have done their own, as do some local departments. But I guess no more! It does unecessarily tie up Troopers in court though.
  7. ALWAYS assume there are fluids on them!!! The one time you should assume!
  8. i cant figure out how to attatch the d@$@#$ thing
  9. not sure if the size works. could use this for pd and put a maltese behind for fd.
  10. After reading the posts for quite some time now I finally agree with this one 1 million percent! And being "that guy" getting cursed at I can tell you it's no fun at all! 90 degrees, 8 hours PLUS on a post, VEST, no a/c, no bathroom, no water, its NO FUN! And especially when someone "lives just down there" for 20 years and has no clue on an alternate route to get home! They should hand out maps when you buy a house with alternate routes highlighted! SO, thank you all for the support from all of us in blue! And when I get the power to levitate 9 firetrucks and all the hoses attatched to same so that Joe Sh#thead can get home I'll let you all know! PS-Wasn't sure where the post was going with the tree down and cop putting up tape and barricades and leaving, but its sometimes necessary to do a "quick fix" due to the large amount of calls we get during storms. And when the FD steps in and assits it makes our life easier to answer the calls for service (ie. raising peoples kids, medical aids for a sore throat etc.) so thanks again for that help! Stay safe!

  13. Gerardo's is owned by the same owner as Ossining Pizza. Both have amazing pizza as well as dinner food in the dining room. Ossining Pizza just re did their dining room. Then try the Gelato next door, fresh and also amazing! Cant beat the pizza!
  14. The Ossining Fire Department was participating in a county wide boot drive last Friday for Hurricane Katrina victims, especially Firefighters and EMS. Of course there is some traffic build up, BUT, it was obviously for a good cause! The owner of "a pizza shop in Briarcliff's Chilmark Shopping Center (Pleasantville Road) called the police deparment and complained that the boot drive was killing his business and he wanted it shut down, and now!! I don't know about you, but I won't set foot in the place from here on out! Spread the word to your families and friends also! This information was from a reliable source!
  15. I've heard they're recomending placing them on the bottom of the doorway to their room facing the hallway. So, naturally, FD doing a search would see it.
