  1. Do you have to be an EMT to fill the EMT position? Just curious. I think YFD 910 was looking for something.
  2. "You can trust your car to the man who wears the star... The big bright Texaco Star". I remember back in the early 80's stumbling on that Texaco Rig at Star Farm. I think it was a late 40's La France, the hose bed had leather bench seats on either side in place of hose. It was covered with a tarp in the carrage house and it looked like it just came out of the factory.
  3. Barry... clarify something for me. Eastchester FD has 14 firefighters min. per shift. To get 16 to a fire you need 2 more X 4 groups, about 10 more spots with time off. Where does the # 75 come from?
  4. Dude true story... I smoke INSIDE my face piece. YFD910 I miss you. And I use the cutter for my side job as a Moyle, it dosen't pay much... but the Tips are great.

  7. If I had one of those for my side job I could make alot of DOUGH! I "WONDER" who built it? I'll bet it's their bread and butter snow removal unit. This unit plus twelve more would be a bakers dozen.

  9. You should pay a visit to Flushing, Queens and see Shea stadium... Site of the biggest collaspe in major league history.
  10. Hey Dave ... do you have a camera? Maybe you could help out with some photos. Good luck.
  11. I have actually had several of these type of rescues over the years and the two tools used were the wizzer and the Hurst brake cutter. Both fast to set up, small and easy to use overhead. You will need manpower and tools to support the patient, and don't forget the tool operator will be exposed to body fluids (Full PPE). Also remember that the business end of a pike pole is not good for patient support. lol

  16. The new Ferrara was asigned as Engine 3 "Jefferson St. Express". The new ladder will replace L2 which will become spare. The Fairfield Regional Fire School was assigned Ex-spare E-8, former Bridgeport Mack 198?.

  18. YFD910... WHICH OF THE NEW ENGINES ARE GOING TO HAVE ROTO-RAYS?? TRUE STORY...
  19. Capt Benz... In answer to your question "Do we have the legal right to close the lanes of traffic ?" My answer is you have more than the legal right, you have a DUTY and obligation to do what is necessary. I know you Bob and you are not an over the top kind of fire officer. your job is to protect your men and the victims of the accident. Yes you need more than 3 feet of safety zone between you and moving traffic. Who could work in this unsafe area? I have a 50 mile commute to work, and when the DOT cuts grass, does pothole repair or guardrail repair they shut down the lane and park 3 or more LARGE trucks behind them. In Connecticut they also get a State Trooper. I have had very few problems over the years with PD, but it does happen. My advise... explain the reason for your actions, if that's not enough it's his problem not yours.
