  1. Who is handling contract EMS for the US Open now that Transcare is no more?
  2. Sources close to the situation have just stated that the suspension of service is being stayed for 30 days, Harrison EMS will continue to operate, I'm sorry I can't be more specific.
  3. Previous poster edited - thanks for clarification.
  4. Correct - I guess my point was more that the Trustee will most likely rapidly liquidate as opposed to holding all the assets while seeking a bidder. Buildings, vehicles and medical equipment with expiration dates and maintenance agreements are expensive items to allow to sit idle.
  5. I believe this is very unlikely. For one thing, the company is being liquidated. That means there literally won't be anything left to acquire. Secondly, I don't believe they are in an agile enough position to recover the lost accounts prior to them implementing a new contracted bidder. That makes their sale a very difficult proposition at any price.
  6. Well at the moment they have too many people and not enough profit
  7. Re posted for clarity, couldn't edit.
  8. Mamaroneck EMS: 2014 1471 2013 1452 2012 1422 2011 1372 Fourth consecutive year of record setting volume.
  9. True but if they are not supporting low band on the new one and they already have the infrastructure in place to produce and deliver it there is little reason not to. Look at Microsoft continuing to sell Windows 7 for example.
  10. A quick Google search reveals no official confirmation of the V being discontinued. I kind of wonder if that is staying in production after all.
  11. Probably because many members work for paid services which may or may not monitor this website, and those users may or may not intentionally or unintentionally say something their employer doesn't like.
  12. Also if you work for who I think you work for you are allowed to wear tactical pants.
  13. I agree, regardless of your personal feelings towards someone's lifestyle, we don't go screaming through the city lights and sirens to arrive on scene and judge someone...
  14. Hi all, I am hoping someone can clear this up for me. My NYS (and National) EMT are up next spring. I have heard conflicting things about when we need to complete the transition course. Can someone give me a definitive answer? Is there some date by which if it is not completed they will pull your card? Must it be completed by a certain date to even renew in the first place?
  15. Yeah the problem is not all of them offer the transition course which is what is so hard to find.
  16. Thanks for all the replies. I think I have decided to just do it online. Not sure if this is allowed or not but the link is below: (I am not affiliated with them at all) http://www.fisdap.net/what_we_make/transition#map
  17. No offense taken but people around the world (not just around NYS) follow things that FDNY and NYPD do.
  18. I would guess that it involves the longstanding traditions/laws of the various service color associations, ie red/white for police, blue for fire, green for EMS. Also might have something to do with NYS following what NYPD does.

  21. Cheaper than footing the bill for a full paid department plus pensions plus I'm sure paying for their healthcare entirely...
  22. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to offer to volunteers anyway...I can't off the top of my head though think of any agency in this area that has 50 volunteers that do over 30 hours a week, unless you count sitting around the station...
  23. Thanks - what a nightmare. I'm thinking of just doing the online. Any ideas of a class being offered around here anytime soon? ?
